Re: The Moog One
Does anyone have any comparisons between the Moog One and the MemoryMoog? Reliability issues aside, what are the qualitative differences in sound? memorymoog is to model d-ish as moog one is to voyager-ish No, that's not really a fair comparison. The Voyager had dull oscs and was very stable in ter...

Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths
Speaking of non-sucky patches, I have decided to pass along my collection of patches from 13 years of Xpander/M-12 programming: ~90/100 are mine, have held these close to my chest but now that the M-12 is leaving I'm happy to share. Names are (mostly) meaningless. Many are velocity sensitive (indic...

There is an active Xpander/M-12 FB group, i would join and post. Lots of potential tech input there.

Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths
Sir Ruff_Oberheim Matrix-12 patches.zip Thanks for sharing these! Can anyone here explain me how to save patches from my Xpander? Mine has a ton of very decent and good patches from the previous owner and wouldn't want to lose them. But still I'd also love to try out what Sir Ruff has come up with....

Re: Q163 Eurorack Adapter
I am still on the fence, as euro has been a rabbit hole that I have fell into twice before! yeah, definitely feels kind of dirty thinking about it :hihi: There are def a few euro modules I would love to see in MU format, like the Verbos harmonic osc, or more wavetable stuff, but there's also a lot ...

Any demos of this yet? I no longer own either, but I can definitely imagine it helping reduce some of that DSI osc sterility

Re: Schmidt Eight Voice Analog Synth
Exactly. But its the same chip. The point was to expose the poor logic of the prior posts. The only “poor logic” here is bringing a wavetable oscillator into a VCO discussion. Tobbs trolly comment should have just been ignored, but since I didn’t: the fact that the 3374 could sound like more “VCO-l...

Re: Oberheim has been quiet for a while
I'm not holding my breath for any new Oberheim stuff, though it would be welcome. I would look at the Abstract Instruments VS-1. It's on my radar for sure. Yeah, VS-1 is as legit as you’re going to get, probably even moreso than anything TO would ever attempt. I heard rumors of another poly collab ...

Re: Schmidt Eight Voice Analog Synth
You have to ask yourself why it sounds like DCO's VS same chip in other synths does not sound like a DCO... i’m sorry, but what are trying to say here? Sounds like they are describing the heretofore unknown ability of the CEM3374 oscillator chip to function as a DCO in some synths, and VCOs in othe...

Re: Future Sound Systems Portland percussion synthesizer
anyone have any suggestions for sequencers that would pair well with this? Guess some additional CV utility stuff like LFOs would be handy too. Love the idea of making this into a little standalone drum computer.

Re: Sequential's "magic" vintage knob.
the Alesis Ion from '03 had a per voice tuning variation amount (i.e., between the oscillators themselves, not whole voices) that was really convincing. I don't think it extended to filters or envelopes though. More recently, the Quantum allows you to dial in per voice variation on oscs, envs, and f...

Re: Old rackmount delays
Two more options: Effectron (I/II): pretty easy to find and does cleanish but still characterful (plasticy?) 12-bit delays and great flanger sounds that benefit from having phase shift option on either feedback or output. Kind of doubles the choice of flange flavor. Electra EP-550: harder to find bu...

Re: Schmidt Eight Voice Analog Synth
Moog nailed the core sound but yes the overall tuning still needs work. I have been told they are continuing to work on this side thankfully. not sure they nailed it if it still isn’t functioning properly. edging closer and closer to 3 years old and the tuning still needing work is a pretty big pro...

^i like that take! :D Bashing reverb but is becoming old hat at this point, but I have long wondered who is paying these high prices. My new theory is that higher prices actually make things more desirable to collectors—a rare thing worth a lot of money is more impressive than a rare thing that’s no...

Your post immediately brought this scene to mind Lizardo.gif Sorry about that ;) Carry on... :hihi: I've actually never seen that movie. If you never need to move the synth and you don't care about a tidy way to connect and disconnect the power at the portable cabinet, you could modify the QDH40 po...

Easiest route to power a portable cab from QPS6 +Q137 in main cabinet?
Title says it all... I don't want to buy another Q137 for the portable cable and I feel like I should be able to do some combo of QIC->QIC-W->QDH40 to modules? Ideally I'd like to just go from QIC to the power cables, or even just use an extension from the QPS6 to a QDH40? Is there a two cable solut...

Prices are mostly bonkers, but frustratingly, there were 4! M-L Kobol oscs, all for a reasonable price, and sadly all were sold before I could grab one. If anyone happened to grab several and doesn’t need all, please let me know
