Love this. I'm really glad to see more developers going towards GUI based modulation systems. I'm pretty sick of dealing with mod-matrixes in little screens inside these soft synths/tools. We have these massive displays where we can visualize modulation on the damn synths themselves, and get immedia...

Imageline's Harmor is the recent standout for me. Incredibly powerful tool.
KV331's Synthmaster is also amazing.

I have Live with Operator and Sampler. Both are pretty great additions to the base software. I don't really have use for any of the other stuff. Ableton is the core of my music making, though. It's pretty integral to what I do. Although, I've started using Reaper as a customized vocal recording/edit...

One thing I love about their stuff is well they implement Mid/Side.

My experience with serge animoo and the Variable Q VCF is it's pretty sharp and clean -- which I like -- when it's patched vanilla. I think where things get interesting is when you patch subtle feedback paths through the waveshapers and transient generators (acting as a slew limiter) back in to the ...

I really wish I could get a chance to check out the 2.0 tour. I saw the MUTEK 2011 unveiling of ISAM 1 when I played there that year. It blew my mind sonically and visually. I'm not a huge Tobin fan, but it was really a stellar thing to see.

If you have reaktor, it's also quite easy to build devices that do this. You could use them live, or record the low frequency audio internally and manipulated it along the timeline.

I've gotten a lot out of this in the last couple days by just feeding it very simple and clean drum patterns, then automating the hell out of the hexadecimal values in the operators. Very cool plugin with a lot of character!

I use ChronoSync on OS X for backup. It's robust, and easy to use. On windows I use SyncBack, which has similar functionality. Both have saved my ass a couple of times. Both from my own mistakes, and from hardware failure.

The Reaktor ensemble "OKi Computer 2.x" is also awesome. I was going to recommend this too. You can set up a sequence of wave tables then sweep through it with an LFO or an envelope. Yup! It's a gooder. The combination of the filter and saturation in that plug are really interesting as well. I real...

+1 Babaluma! I like to have a clear idea, and stay within that limit. Can't say I ever really noodle around much anymore, and I'm kind of a lot better off. If I do, it's usually later in the production process, when I want to add a few more goodies to tracks. I don't really have much gear around any...
