Thanks for your suggestions qu.one and sorry for my slow response! The problem with the methods you mention is that I still want to be able to play/ pitch the phrase via a keyboard. Here's sort of what I'm trying to do: http://www.canecutters.co.uk/music/nml/misc/loopmod.mp3 I loaded the phrase into...

Modulate sample start/end points in beat div. increments?

Hoping someone can help me with this: I'm trying to modulate the start and end points of a sampled loop. Most samplers allow you to do this in sample frames, but I would like to jump to set beat divisions: e.g. go from '1-2-3-4' to '2-3-4-2' or '3-4-3-4' etc., similar to the way analogue sequencers ...

Sorry for dragging this one up again, but it was giving me no rest. I got your patch to work with my un-modded, i.e. T&H, A-152 by using a trigger delay but discovered one key problem: the 'Thing' drifts badly! Despite this, I was just about to extend the patch for extra taps as you described when I...

I'd add the A-133 VC Polarizer: boring, but bloody useful.

Maths Portamento

Maths' outputs are buffered but, if you go another route, you could also look at Analogue Solutions' MX224 mixer/ buffered multiple.

 that's high praise indeed!

Schneider has these filters in a beauty case set-up called the Jimibox:

SY02, A-110 VCO, Ribbon controller + Mult.

You can do some serious shredding with this thing :sb:

Don't know how accurate a clone it is, but I certainly liked the SY02 when I had one on loan.

Here's the old test (10MB).

And here's a taster.

I resoldered the connections and the contour switch is now working again.

Couldn't get your patch to work - both VCOs tracked in unison.

Like I said, I remember trying this a while ago. I gave up with the A-152 and solved it by using two S&H units instead.
Here's the patch and an MP3:

I use it to gain vc of the contour shapes: e.g. envelope mult out > A-133 input +/- random cv > A-133 cv input A-133 output to Maths 'Both' input. If you keep the Maths channel setting to linear, you can then vary the contour depending on the amount of positive or negative feedback applied to the 'b...

My A-152 is not modded for S&H, but I tried something similar when I first got it.

I think the Doefper PDF includes an example called "Buchla Toggle & Hold".

IIRC this works for two slots but no more.

I'll try your patch later, but wonder whether it will work with a T&H?

For more Maths patch tips and ideas, run a search for the Rich Gold Serge Guidebook and see the DUSG section. The Wiard GR-331 Dual Envelator PDF is also useful ... (!) Having played with Maths a bit more there's one other feature I wish it had: a combined trigger to fire both EGs at the same time, ...

Thanks for the replies and the link guys. I'll have another look at it tomorrow on the tip-off about the timebase. I recently re-calibrated it. I use a Trace Elliot V-Type valve bass preamp. It's a 1U box with gain and a three-band EQ. Rare, but not expensive. It can really transform a sound, without getting into Sherman territory. Even running your softsynths through an analogue mixer and pushing the gain will do wonders. The Soundcraft EP...

I've now discovered another problem with my M10 Mk2: The contour switch has no effect on the shape of the envelope. Regardless of its position, the envelope is always linear. I'm sure it used to work, but checking with a scope confirmed this. Could this be down to a blown diode or is it simply a bro...
