PS I used a CD4049UBE -- unbuffered. AFAIK the circuit doesn't specify; could this be the problem?

CD4049 heating up - reverselandfill creepcluster

Hi all, just built the creepcluster from reverselandfill; it is two triangle oscillators from a 4049 hex inverter hard switched by an audio rate squarewave. Works fine, but the CD4049 is heating up. No solder bridges that I can find under the magnifier, all the components are correct (though I haven...

Just a thought -- you could use a 4-channel DC mixer, like the CGS one, to mix the CV outputs to one main out, then you would have a regular sequencer CV output for melody lines, etc.

— 4.7k for R17 to fix the offset range — If you're building it for Eurorack (or other 12V formats) R3 should be 120k and R5 should be 80k. For anyone building this now, definitely do these mods!! Unfortunately I only found out about them long after I built mine, but they fixed the offset pot and CV...

Yes please bring back the D-1000. I think I'm going to try to piece one together out of some bandpass filters but it won't have that tube magic and 60 cycle hum and insane low end thump of the D-1000...

I'm guessing the eurorack PCBs are all gone? AARGH why am I perpetually finding these projects right after the pcb run is over??

Interested in a snare pcb and HH pcb is anyone didn't build theirs.

Record stuff you like. That's the answer. True enough. Good practice to have the tape/HDD rolling at all times. But that doesn't excuse this truly irritating and unecessary behavior. I frequently spend several days or more working on a patch before Im ready to record a run-through, and I'm weird ab...

Think I'll need a panel too, if possible. (previously down for pcb/tubes) -- so pcb/tubes/panel.

edit: and sockets!

th0mas' explanation makes a lot of sense. It's like a rounding error when the pots are just in that "in-between" area. Except with these tiny trimmer pots, they are almost ALL in-between area. So you turn it back on, and some notes are shifted up, some down, and after hearing that it's impossible to...

As cool as it looks, seems more like a sweet industrial design thesis project than an instrument. Seems like most of the money is going into sheet metal stands, built in speakers, lego panels, printed assembly manuals. Meanwhile the sound generating stuff is the simplest circuits imaginable with tin...

Hm.. that's weird. And I have been using it powered by a USB-wallwart adapter thing.

But I'm not about to start buying AA batteries for this thing! Maybe there's a circuit I can build on stripboard that will provide a regulated and stable 3v DC, then cram it into the battery well.

I see. Yeah havent cracked the manual on the mf103 for quite a while. I kinda forgot those jacks were designed for expression pedals. :hihi: Anyway I haven't had any problems interfacing with modular using 1/4" to 1/8" TS cables, so I'm thinking the euro-patchbay approach is fine as long as no expre...

with many of the control jacks wired to a bay but without anything plugged in (to the bay jacks), the pedal didn't sound and work the way I wanted it to. Is it possible the jacks are switching jacks normalled to ground, and when a plug is inserted it breaks the normalling? The reason I ask is I was...

Can you elaborate on the free-run LFO mod, if you know how it was done? I know how it was done on the original because there is documentation everywhere, but the difference in physical layout between the original THT and the SMD Karp is the problem... maybe you could post a pic of the board where th...

Has anyone else noticed the CV knob values changing after a power cycle? When I get a sequence I like and then power down, then turn it back on, the sequence is all screwed up. Clean off components and pads with alcohol too. Oxidation gets in the way of solder bonding. If solder isn't flowing it isn't hot enough or parts not clean enough. Put solder to the other side of component, not onto the soldering iron, to ensure joint is hot enough for bonding. Good solder is def wo...

That could work! I'll probably just add some of the proper jacks on to my next synthcube order tho, because I plan on building a Barton V2R and the only panel available for that takes the same kind of jacks. It's these ones (LJE0352-4R), just in case any future builders of the Quad LPG or other clar...
