Re: Rod Elliot Spring Reverb
Just in case anybody does run into this same problem, I tied a 100nF cap across the power rails and that seems to have sorted it. The circuit is still *VERY* susceptible to EMI hum from positioning, nearby devices, and even my own proximity to the board. I'm thinking enclosing it in a metal box is g...

Re: Soma - LYRA-8 DIY Kit
It's certainly not a straightforward build Man you can say that again. As you say tho, it goes hand in hand with the weirdness of the thing, so I'm prepared to deal with it for the sake of owning a Lyra. I've done a lot of DIY by now so my usual process is look through the BOM for anything obsolete...

Re: Soma - LYRA-8 DIY Kit
I have a chance to buy someone's Lyra-8 PCBs but seeing the gut shots of the assembled module I'm having second thoughts. Why the hell do you have to loop dupont jumpers around between the boards like that? Couldn't you solder the female headers on the main board to the opposite side, and then just ...

Re: Do I need a reamp and a DI box?
after agonizing quite a bit about it, I finally concluded that *most* of this reamping pedals stuff comes as received wisdom from the guitar world, where impedance mismatches and the like can (apparently) have a dramatic effect on "tone." With line/modular levels this seems to be mostly a non-issue ...

Re: Rod Elliot Spring Reverb
In another version of this circuit he recommends a 100n bypass between the power pins of the NE5532, so I'm going to try that as well.

Yeah I did change the RC corner freq. 4n7 was intended to put it closer to 5Khz. I will try changing the value and see if anything changes. thanks!

Rod Elliot Spring Reverb [LAYOUT VERIFIED]
Hi all, I need a second pair of eyes on this layout. It seems to be "working" but I'm getting a lot of squeal/hi-frequency noise on the output, which is maybe the op-amp oscillating? Does anyone notice anything conspicuous about this layout that would cause that? It's a relatively simple circuit, so...

Re: Anyone doing "Pro" TD-3 Mods ala Devil Fish?
There's an amateur td-3 modding thread over at gearslutz but from what I can tell they are mostly going by trial and error... Nothing like the additional functionality offered by the devilfish mod, unfortunately (not that any mod is worth what that guy apparently charges, holy crap, quite the little...

Tony, if you do make a DimD clone, consider this my order for a set of the PCBs!
I'm planning on getting one of the KT units when they hit the US. I'd try your mods but I hate doing 0402 by hand, even though they do look pretty spaced out.

Re: What’s the deal with all the resonance?
Personally I love me a good resonant filter sweep. And how the resonance behaves is what distinguishes a lot of filters from each other. What would an MS20 filter be without the resonance, for example? filter demos, you're gonna need to hear the resonance. As far as within the context of a track, I ...

Re: What is the worst synth sounding you ever bought and why ?
My first piece of gear was a boss dr-202 drum machine in the late 90s... I spent hours and hours on that fucker learning it inside and out but god it sounded awful. It was lo-fi drum samples, but not in a good way. More like muffled, no punch, no dynamics, sonic cardboard. I heard those sounds on a ...

Re: Eurorack cv into... ?(anyone tried this)
Why in the hell does this work? I'm trying to understand how it works but I can't get my mind around. It makes total sense with a Y-cable, as you're running the 5v into the VCA, which is attenuating, and then returning it to the exp. jack. But why does it work with a mult or a stackable between the ...

Re: EURO x0x-heart - Complete "Kit"
Regarding the xoxheart board, for shits and giggles would it be possible to replace the 2SK3666-2 with 2SK208 ? Mouser has them so I was just wondering if it would make any audible difference in the sound. Also, is there a convenient place to tack on a direct oscillator out? Maybe it would need to b...

Re: DIY or not DIY?
Something that wasn't apparent at first with DIY is how the hardware makes up 90% of the cost. The cost of the component circuitry might be a few dollars but pots, switches, jacks and especially panels adds up real fast. Now when I see a module I mostly drool over the pots and knobs they used instea...

I am having problems with the digital whine when my BSP is connected via clock to a korg SQ-1. Several devices are getting midi from the BSP MIDI out but nothing is plugged into...

Re: Pulsewidth control of a clock
Maybe a solved problem but in DIY form, the barton VC clock/divider has a master clock with 4 division outputs, each with their own pulsewidth control which is also CV'able. Just thought I'd mention it b/c I am about to build one myself.
