I am selling 2 517s :) Although I liked my 517S when I first got it, after I found out that the Dotcom 107A has a jumper that allows hard clipping it became apparent that I couldn't get the 517S to do anything that I couldn't also get the 107A to do. So I removed my 517S to make room for a Corsynth...

My mother passed one week to the day from her 60th birthday, that was weighing on me pretty heavy. Our birthdays were in August, I was born when she was 25, and 25 years from her death I turned 60; I was dwelling on far too many numbers.... I know just how you were feeling, Parnelli . Squeezing a wide-bandwidth signal with robust bass energy and wide dynamic range into a vinyl record groove requires way more "audio optimization" than merely applying the RIAA EQ curve to the input signal. Changes in volume (dynamics) cause the stylus to move vertically. Put too dynamic a signal in...

I saw him once at Wolf and Rissmillers Country Club in about 1985 with a bunch of dudes. Local DJ Fraser Smith 'sang' Pressed Rat and Warthog. Apparently it had been a fantasy of Frasers to do this for many years. The gig was actually amazing. Tim Bogert played bass if I recall correctly. You recal...

Ginger had been one of my drumming heroes since I first heard "Fresh Cream" in 1967. The first time I saw Cream play live in 1968 was the closest I've ever come in my life to having a religious experience: Cream launched into “Tales of Brave Ulysses”, and the first chord of the song was so loud and ...

The only time I ever use headphones is when I'm playing/tracking live drums along with previously-recorded tracks. Aside from that I always monitor and check mixes on 3 different sets of speakers, one of which I've been using for over 35 years, so I know it extremely well and can trust the judgments...

For me audio is ok too. Also I think that just pure technical demos should not be posted there. Just musical content including module demos in a musical context. Agreed. The obvious place for module makers to post these would be on their websites, where after seeing a good demo of a module a custom...

What I need that would help me decide if I'm interested in a module with sophisticated (read: west-coast) capabilities is video demos that show those capabilities. If your website is how you do commerce then for cryin' out loud use that website to SELL your module, and that means showing what it can...

This module wasn't quite ready for a Knobcon debut this year but I have made some progress on it since then. The GMS-1380MU Digital Stereo Delay provides one mono delay channel of up to 4 seconds or a stereo delay of up to 2 seconds per channel. The minimum delay is 1 msec. http://www.groveaudio.co...

I realize this is kind of after-the-fact, but some sort of a presence at Knobcon or Synthplex may help spread the word. I know that Chicago may be a bit of a schlep, but i...

Sure, everything depends on what you´re after, but in this case it´s a fatter lead sound. So, just to be clear, I wonder what you think about adding a fourth oscillator to make lead sounds fatter. I´m leaning towards the sound getting a bit blurry, more fuzzy. It´s like they, more or less, cancel e...

I wonder how many of us had parents who enjoyed music a lot? My folks loved music — the two things that you would always hear in our house when I was growing up were music and L.A. Dodger baseball games. Every Saturday morning at 10am my mom would listen to the live broadcast of the Metropolitan Op...

Since I use all Dotcom Studio Cables my patches do follow a color system, but the system is strictly based on the length of the cable, not on the cable's function within the patch. Quick "inverse-placement" tip for determining subwoofer placement: 1. Place the subwoofer in your listening position (yes, on a sturdy chair or similar object). 2. When you sell your name along with your company it's tough. When Wm. F. Ludwig sold the Ludwig & Ludwig [drum] company to G.C. Conn in 1929 he lost the right to use his own name in any business. I simply connect my 5U's mono output to one of my audio interface's inputs (PreSonus 1818VSL). Each of the 1818VSL's inputs has an attenuator and an overload indicator, so it's a quick job to dial the input down so the "uh-oh" light stays off even at the modular's highest output levels.

Easy-peasy.
