New Forum User Welcome Message

Post by Muff Wiggler » Sat Oct 11, 2008 2:19 pm

I've recently switched the forum from 'admin activated' (I have to approve each new user manually) to 'user activated' (user clicks the activation link in the email they get), because it seems we pretty much have the spambots locked out via other means.

Also, as I'm really really busy with travel for work these days, people have had to wait far longer than I'm happy with for me to activate (sorry guys who signed up this week)

So, I made the switch. Apologies in advance if spammers get in...

But, the one thing that I liked about the Admin-Activated, was I got to send a "welcome" PM to every new user who registered. I thought this was a nice thing to do and helps set a friendly vibe here at the forum.

But, now that I don't get notifications, I miss this chance.

So, for new users, and everyone else, here's the message. In summary it says "I'm glad you're here".

---------

Account Activated! Welcome!

-------------------

Hi there! Welcome, and nice to have you here!

thanks very much for choosing our forum! I really hope you enjoy it. I put it up for you guys so PLEASE let me know anything you would like or need to make it better.

sorry for the delay activating your account, but you are good to go now.

Cheers & see you on the boards

Best wishes,

'Muff
