I use FIrefox and favico is not working. When I look at the Network trace, the GET request for favicon.ico returns 404.

Please test again - are you still getting 404?

It's working for me now (after doing a shift-Reload). Thanks!

You can do that in your account settings.

Click your user name.
Click user control panel
Click board preferences
Click edit display options and then choose what you want to see.

can you do that for a specific user and not all of them?

I don't mind signature in general, I just mind the visual pollution of embedded soundcloud track in signature. but thanks anyway.

Thanks Rob & Joe!

As you can see from the screen grab below, I'm not getting the option to enable BBCode/Smilies in this subforum, hence the broken quotes above. Is it maybe only available to admins?

The favicon is now back for me (Chrome/OSX).

Thanks for taking this on.

Am I the only one who has noticed that some old posts have been deleted? My listing in the For Sale / Trade forum is completely gone, which is a bit troublesome as it was a long list of prices. I viewed and updated it as recently as a few weeks ago.

Hello Rob,

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for doing what you are doing. Mike created something that made a huge impact on the world of modular synthesis - and Mike himself had made positive impact on quite a few individuals like me.

All the best!

Yup. Some posts were lost. Rob's working to try to get them back.

Yes, all posts from the 16th to the 22nd of December vanished - if you read back in this thread you'll find out why, and also that they may reappear eventually. But by all means recreate your sale post if you want, there's no guarantee that the old posts will be resurrected.

Got it, thanks all. I searched around for answers first, but couldn’t find anything definitive, and it seemed inconsistent. What’s strange is that the original post was from way before that time period. I guess if there were additional posts during that time period, the whole thread might have disappeared in some cases! Weird.

If it was over 30 days old with no activity it may have been auto-pruned. I think that feature is working again after a long time of not working on the old software.
You'll probably have to redo it - sorry.

Yeah, I already did. It wasn’t over 30 days old... I’m not too concerned about my specific case, more so reporting it so Rob can corner whatever conditions triggered this weird behavior. My initial thread was made many months ago, and replied to with additional posts from time to time up until about two weeks ago,

Yeah, recovering lost posts and PMs is far and above the hardest par tof the migration, and something I need to get totally incredibly right.

I have them now in a separate database, and upgraded to the same schema, but all the IDs are out of sequence now so a straight insert would either overwrite existing posts & topics or put posts in the wrong topics and leave a bunch of topics with no posts.

If you have a particular post you've like to recover, let me know and I can pull that easily.

Lost Posts Update:

I identified 133 missing topics and 2368 missing posts (total in both missing topics and pre-existing topics)

All posts in pre-existing topics should now be restored.

All but 19 missing topics have been restored.

Those last 19 topics had some funky characters in the title that broke my scripts, so I'll have to handle them manually. Not going to do that tonight, but they should be available by... let's say Wednesday.

Once that's done, I believe all critical issues have been closed, and we are feature-complete (if not feature-superior) to the pre-migration forums.
There are still some minor requests ( tracked on the Trello Board ). If you think we're missing anything, or would like to request a new feature, please check the Discussions & Requests forum for an existing thread before starting a new one.

I know a lot of you are going to reply with thanks - as a lot of you already have - but please let me thank you. Even if the Patreon wasn't already at over double our operating costs - which is just AMAZING - I'd still be doing this work simply because of how important this community is to the family. Everyone's stories of Mike, and even just seeing this place shining on day after day, has been invaluable to us over the past 9 months as we've dealt with his loss.
I'm just keeping the lights on. It's all of you that make this a place worth visiting.

Yeah, that's the next big request. It's proving easier said than done (the old version of the forums just had page parameters you could pass in. New version doesn't), but it's still on the To Do list.

Not nearly as intuitive. When searching on one page you can scroll easily around the hits and read them in context. All posts on one page also makes it possible to save a thread locally.

I wish that "topic reply notification" email messages would include the actual reply, as they used to. Now they don't, and without it, they are just noise. Maybe this is a user-configurable option; if so I haven't been able to find where to change it.

To someone earlier in the thread complaining that the system now puts PHP session IDs in the URL and that that's a "security hole": this is not new. It always would some of the time put PHP session IDs in the URL, and it still doesn't do it all of the time. It depends on the user's configuration - I don't know the exact rule but I think maybe it was and is only for users who have disabled cookies or something. It's not really a security hole. In order to make use of the session ID, someone would have to both connect while the session is still in effect, and forge the user's IP address (which is tricky, to say the least). What has changed with the new system is that *now* Muffwiggler is cloaking the referrer header, so even with the session ID in the URL, other sites linked to from here are not going to see it. The supposed "security hole" is *fixed* by the version change, not *newly introduced*. But it was never a real security hole anyway.

Just for me personally, it's a disappointment that the new version cloaks the referrer header, because before, when people would link to my site from Muffwiggler threads then I could see which thread contained the link, and now I can only see "www.muffwiggler.com." But this is not a big deal and especially if there are people out there who think referrer headers are a privacy threat, it probably can't be changed.

Sorry if this was already asked, but where can i see [b]threads created by user[/b]? This is one of most vital forum's functions for me. Right now i only see how show "posts by user".

You can do this using the advanced search.

Put the username in the username field.
Choose a subforum if you wish to narrow results a bit.
Search within - First post of topics only.
Display results - whatever your preference is.
