Yes Powder, I used different ribbon cables. In the case of the PSUs, I used only the power bricks that came with the respective PSU.

are these switching PSU's you're using? Have you tested it with a linear PSU?

Yes Powder wrote: When I first got mine, it would make this unbearable crackling sound, even with very low-gain signals. Two things I remember doing before the crackling was gone was changing the tubes, and installing an external spring tank.

As I have it now, it doesn't crackle at all, even at high gain settings.
BTW: Thanks! YES!!!! Changed my tubes and the crackle went away.

Ouch, it’d take some serious fanboism to find that acceptable. :woah:
My first modular track where I used drum modules! BIA, Entity Percussion, Chimera, Elements. There's also a ton of FM cross modulation from the Instruō Cš-L in there and the Metasonix R56 is a big part of the sound. :star:

Both the uZeus and the RKP are switching power supplies. Again, the noise is only on the wet output. If it was the PSU, wouldn't it also be apparent on the dry output settings?

Maybe and maybe not. Problems like this can be caused by many interactions. All I can tell you is: send it in so I can test it. If necessary we'll replace the whole thing.

BTW: love these bakelite knobs on the R-56... although a bit large for the spacing. Cheap find on Aliexpress.

Don't feel like making a demo, but you can hear it in most any song on my Soundcloud that uses my modular— especially Tangles of Yellow Light and Skyglow. I'm using an 8DB2C1B, but there are a few others that'll work too. (When picking one, just try to get the impedances as close as possible to what the R56 needs, since there's no "perfect match" as far as I've found.)
It definitely makes the bass notes more coherent, but it's still a subtle difference.

Just go for it, dude. They're like $20 a pop.

I really like to concept of distorted reverb especially for drums !
I hope I will get one of these one day or grab a Industrialectric RM-1N at the moment since they seem to be easier to get

Is anyone here using two R56 in series with combination of small and large tanks? , if so please make a demo.
I´m mad to know how that sounds

The drugstore didn't have any gay furry porn stickers, so this was the best alternative....

PS was considering a limited reissue of the R56 but without the little front-panel spring and multiple large springs instead, mounted in external cabinet. Possibly add tone controls to the outputs also. Of course it will cost more than the original. Quality max. Interest?

I'm definitely interested, it would also be cool to have a patchable open feedback path
