Blacet Power Supplies

Post by Jd1979 » Sun Jun 07, 2020 7:55 pm

Hi all,

I was wondering if there are any places to buy power supplies for blacet modules? I’m looking around but not able to find anything since the man himself passed on. Any help would be most appreciated.

Synthcube has acquired Blacet and will presumably be making them available again soon.

They do come up on Reverb and the BST forum here.

Otherwise you can DIY if you feel comfortable installing a power inlet, etc. for one of the Meanwell supplies that John used on the last iteration of his PSU.

Does anyone know the model number of that Meanwell supply?

Another DIY option is the Oakley power supply. It uses a Yamaha external power brick, i use a couple of them.

Does the Blacet switching PSU use regulators after the switching circuit?

Thanks for this link! The power supply in the RAK-3 was so small, that I was worried it was a switching type. But no, it's linear, which of course makes the most sense.

That supply is only 400mA, so by the time you allow some headroom, it will only power a small number of modules, certainly no more than 1 rack.

We are bringing these back out as soon as next week-- found all the bits here.
Anyone remember what they paid for the PS8000 power supply with and without the PSCONN3 distro boards?

totally, i picked the wrong one, but the 1a or 1.5 works well.

but stoked about these blacets, much tidier package.

About $20 for the basic switching power supply without case, switch, power inlet, power cord etc., the stuff that makes it convenient and safe and legal for sale as a complete product. Link is for Amazon, but Mouser, Digikey etc should have them too.

MEAN WELL PD-2515 AC-DC Power Supply Open Frame Dual Output +15V
