I just sent an email inquiry to Cary. I'll post back if I'm able to order one :tu:

The way I understood Cary back in October, he was testing interest and gathering pre-orders to see how many MiniROMs he should manufacture, and was planning to finish and sell them around January.

I'm not speaking for Cary, this is just what I understood from his emails and posts back then.

The page he linked to above says you should email him for availability. I don't know if he gathered official pre-orders via this thread as well.

I sent an email back then asking to order a miniRom and a programmer. The conversation kind of ended there. I like the idea of having a flash drop-in compatible rom that I can reprogram. Maybe I need to come up with a solution myself with a (USB?) CPU and flash on one board... anyway I'm still interested if this moves forward.

I got an email reply from Cary. He is doing a run of these, but they will be delayed a bit.

Thanks to Cary for putting this together! :hail:

I finally got Tom to do the boards. Will see if it works and then I'll do 40 of them. It will be at least two more months. Very about that.

So question for you. Do you even need stackable? Or is it only one because you did the rackmount nine ROM kits (Larry and Dave).

I have a Hylander Expander and plan on building another one when I get a second Miniwave, so I guess stackable would be nice. Definitely not a deal breaker if it isn't, though.

It doesn't matter whether it is the Hylander Expansion or the MiniWave, you can't stack them without a switch. The MiniWave has two sockets, and the Hylander has nine. (So 10 total). I was going to stack a couple myself but I'm not sure anyone else will do this. That's why I'm asking.

I was thinking of stacking the Hylander Expaner connector on top of this, but looking at it again, maybe that would not work?

Dunno if anyone is still following this thread ( I just noticed it ) but I'm kinda the roadblock in movement on this. Between work and then moving to the East Coast I got seriously sidetracked helping Cary on this project. I need to go through the board layouts and figure out where we are on them and also all my emails to determine which PPG ROM version to use.

Again, all my fault and not Cary's and I'll try to get moving on it since I have some time right now.

Thanks for the update. I'm definitely still interested in this, so I'll be waiting patiently for any news. Please keep us in the loop with any news you may have! :tu:

Interested but I'm a bit rusty on all of this. I have a standard Blacet Miniwave, Rev A, with standard "EPROM A" and the Socket Rocket EPROM. Anything I should know?

I could be mistaken, but I don't think that these were ever continued on after the first batch.
The stacking ROMs look quite neat - not entirely sure how you switch between the extra banks, sounds like from an additional switch?

If you're looking for PPG sounds, there's a couple ROMs available & some banks floating around that can be burned. Talk to David Hylander. Grant's PPG-VS ROM is nice, but I like the PPG-Wave ROM even more.

The MW Expander is really nice - neither a cheap nor easy build, but totally worth it.

Don't know if there were one or two batches originally but anyway, Mr Roberts had to delay the project for health related reasons several.years ago. Since 2014 there have been I think three messages from him and others regarding continuation but nothing seems to have materialized yet. I foremostly hope Mr Roberts is doing well and if & when the project goes on I'll be happy to buy a few, or even help financing them.
