Question about clock modules

Post by shize312 » Wed Sep 16, 2020 6:54 am

Hey everyone, i've got a doubt that i wanna clear away with your help.

Let me introduce you my rack:
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1288424

My question is about the clock modules by 4ms; on VCV i have been using a clock generator with its own multiplier and divider to make generative ambient patches.
Now i am doubting if i am in need of clock modifiers or a clock generstor plus the modifiers? Do you have any tips for me? It's there a clock generator with its own modifiers (divider and multiplier)?
Or perhaps shall i just get different, separate, module?

Cheers

The 4ms QCD is fantastic.

Take a look at Pamela's New Workout. You can set the master time in BPM and then you have 8 outs all with there own: multiplier/divider/waveform. it can also do random, quantized random, euclidean rhythms on those 8 outs. Definitely worth checking out if you don't have the rest of the clock setup.

If/when i buy a second stand alone case I'll be buying another PNW. So highly recommend.

Yes, it looks it's a really nice module!
Is there a CV input for any knob? Is it possible to modulate them singularly and sequence them randomly and set different clocks?

Thanks, i was totally in for the PNW but i wanna keep myself out of any possible menu diving options, even if itvs not as deep as other modules.
It's a really nice little module though!

If you don't need a precise bpm and play it by ear, then a square lfo can act as a clock, and then you divide-or-multiply-or-whatever-it as you need (do I hear "utilities" ?).
And I've also had a lot of fun with a not-so-square lfo... :hihi:

Great tip, thanks for that!

My main thing is: the 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator has 6 voices and i just want to give them different, slow clocks. How could i actuay achive that?

Just get Pams, there is nothing better and there really is no menu driving
FS: Motomouth Formant Filter $200 and lots more

Check out the Count from Moffenzeef. It's a clock with multiple division outputs, 8hp and no screen.

One advantage of the 4ms modules is the absence of programming. For me at least, the fewer modules with programming modes in my system, the easier it is for me to use. A second advantage is the option to add the QPLFO, QCD, etc. to the system.
