Help : Trouble with my megawave ?

Post by Human Koala » Mon Jan 27, 2014 5:42 pm

Hi,

it seems i have some trouble with my megawave :

Richter Oscillator 2, saw wav => Megawave => output

i used the bank 0, Wave 0, ROM 0 to calibrate the megawave until i have an almost perfect sinusoid.
Image

i want to use the bank 9 of the Miniwave rom
Wave 0 => OK
Image
Wave 1 => A glitch on the wave
Image
Wave 2/3 => OK
Image

and there is a lot of wav having the same trouble on several bank like the rom chipset was fucked up or something

:help: :help: :help: :help:

Hmmmm... Have you tried mailing Josh? I'd hit up Malekko. And tell us what you find out!

To Complete The file :

On the TrashAudio Video on the megawave it seems they haven't a glitch on this waveform :

@Human_Koala Hi! The waveforms on the Megawave, including the imperfect sine wave you've pointed out, were given to us from the original rom sets. Being 8bit, there are a few waveforms that show anomalies but those anomalies are present in the original roms and are consistent among the modules currently being produced. Technically speaking I suppose you could call that a glitch but it's a glitch that's been present in the set of waveforms for the past 15 or so years. Given that, combined with the availability of other customary sinusoidal waveforms among the 2500ish unique waves available, I'm more inclined to call it a feature. At any rate, I'm sure you'll find a way to make it sound amazing! Thanks for getting in touch.

another example :

this is the advertised quantizer from the waveguide file :

this is what i get :

i have such glitchs in every banks. 20% of 2500 waves are like this
this generate clicks in lfo mode, noise in audio, noise in morphing banks/roms

Is it really like this since 15 year ? in the miniwave ? waveform city ?

every megawave are like this ? and this is because of 8bit ?

please, this is not a feature, it is a bug, a glitch, the waves are corrupted it is even different from the wave guide.

if you provide alternative eprom without those easter eegs, i would happy to buy them. But don't tell it is a feature.

here you can hear it the megawave quantizer, wave 10.0.10 :

absolutely great module otherwise :guinness:

yes I do.

I contacted several times but never had a proper reply.

9 months ago Paul wrote that I need to re-flash the card ... and .... nothing else .
I wrote back several times but no answer.

I cannot say a good service .

Anyway I'd like to solve this problem as I really like the module

the only way is to change the chipset with the waveforms in it, it is easy to do. but you have to find a way to get the waveform to burn them on it. so without paul's help seems very difficult :roll: :roll: :roll: .
