OK, got it. For the record, I popped the Quantimator ATMega328 chip into the socket on my Uno, hooked up a USBasp (ICSP) programmer to the ICSP headers and ran from the OSX Terminal:

avrdude -p m328 -c usbasp -P usb -U flash:w:quantimator1.2.cpp.hex

Done and done.
Thanks for posting that! Can you tell me where the ICSP header is? Also can you tell me which exact USB ASP programmer is?

So the procedure for macOS users:

1. Insert EEPROM into USB ASP device (don't know which one).
2. Plus USB device into computer.
3. Open Terminal in macOS utilities or run AVRfuses app for macOS.
4. Type: avrdude -p m328 -c usbasp -P usb -U flash:w:quantimator1.2.cpp.hex

[AVRfuses ATmel programmer link: https://vonnieda.org/software/avrfuses]

Questions:

A. Where do you put the hex file? On the USB flasher? Is the flasher also a USB storage device?
B. Looks like a 28-pin device from the photo. Do I plug this into the second Amazon product I linked?
C. Is it possible to brick the device or the module if I do it wrong?

I searched "USB ASP EEPROM 28-pin programmer" in Amazon and a lot of devices came up, one made for ATMel devices. Just can't seem to find one with a socket with 28 pins. Most are only 10-pin devices?

Okay, I found this programmer for ATMel devices on Amazon. It has a 10-pin cable. Where does that go?

Or do I also need to buy this thing?

any AVR ISP programmer should work, these are all hella cheap. https://vonnieda.org/software/avrfuses this is the software I use, it's simple and effective. If you know someone locally who has flashed ATmel microcontrollers before, should be easy for them to do so. I regret I did not include ICSP pins on the back of that module, makes it a little easier. Reach out on facebook too maybe. If you can't figure anything out, I can sort you out but not for a few weeks as I am in the middle of moving rn.

Oh, thank you sooooo much! Really appreciate your help! I'll be on my own since the only place I could find locally is this uber-expensive synth repair place, so I'm going to attempt this myself. Absolutely in no hurry—I'm enjoying the crap out of your module as-is. Using Lydian-mode now for some triads, and it's fantastic!
