Is it really LI? Or is it LIP? The two seem to have become synonymous in this thread despite being different modules. :bang:

what are your favorite modules to modulate LI / LIP parameters?

Btw, is LIP is set to drone mode a LI, can I still trigger the envelope without messing with volume? I'd like to upgrade. :hihi:

When I had LI I loved to modulate it with attenuated enveloppes from Quadra.
Now that I have LIP I don't find the need to modulate it as much since the internal enveloppe sends already add so much texture/sound. But I should try and modulate it more nonetheless !

And yes you can still trigger the enveloppe in drone mode.

In my brief time with my LI so far, the Black Joystick Controller is standing out as an excellent modulator for it.

I have found LI to be an expressive and dynamic oscillator under real time control.

Gah!!!!

This module sounds so good and is so easy to make organic sounding unique stuff. I use it all the time and I love it...

...however, the fine pitch knobs are so sensitive and easily moved when tweaking the morph and fold knobs that it completely pisses me off when I just slightly tap it accidentally, cause it to go out of tune by 3 semitones and then spend 2 minutes of constant back and forwards to get it tuned again as the range is too large.

I can't pull it out of my rack as it's too good otherwise, but I'm lucky my windows don't open or I would have thrown my rig 15 floors into space this evening.

This thing has 20 semitones of range on the fine pitch knobs FFS. 2 semitone maximum range on fine controls please guys - it's called fine for a reason.

Yesterday I achieved a formidable bass sound with Loquelic Iteratis, LxD, Magnétosphère. The path to it was long, since in the end I had to forgo many worthy variations and nuances in the LI sound alone. But the deep, woody, croaky, and authoritative result was worth it.

Here is that LI bass sound in a four-part arrangement. The rest is Piston Honda Mark III for two parts, left and right, and Tš-L for the pretty ostinato. Session notes are at the track's webpage:

Really happy with this hellish bongos sound I've found on the LIP :

I had been trying to nail percussions like this for a little while.

Really cool sounds! This is inspiring me to use my LI for more percussive sounds. Thanks!

Yeah I never do either... I stumbled upon this just putting the oscillator into "init"... like wait a sec, this sounds good.

I got one of these on Monday - first patch yesterday, this osc is totally ridiculuos... Really simple modulation:

- VO algo
- Clocked gates to all ins - except fold which receives a waveshaping lfo
- All modulation through attenuators
- A/B freq no inputs
- A synced to B

This patch was continuosly making killer basslines, weird stuff and even percussion, a kick drum is the -more or less- only extra needed

--- I was also sending the general clock trigger to the sync input, does this make sense?

Very nice! Rather moody, which I like. :)

Although I don't have LIP, today I discovered some good cymbals and metallics sounds in my Loquelic Iteratis. In context, the cymbal sounds are credible. Session notes are at each track's webpage:

What modules do you guys like to combine LI with regarding the audio path? I always feel filtering sounds a little off as it starts to sound canny/tinny for longer notes.

Thanks ! And yes, LI/LIP sounds great as metallic percussive elements.

Fixed filterbanks are particularly great.

I did a jam last night exploring LIQ's more melodic side.

Rings takes a lot of the glory, but LIQ is providing the Vangelis style sweep, which is then fed into Rings (pinged with 1v/oct sequence). You can hear the LIQ's envelopes being triggered by the 1/16 note pulse.

Effects courtesy of Clouds and Chronoblob.

This is sick!!! Love the sound of the LIP. And your percussive sounds are always so awesome.
Love the sound of your drums too !
How do you get that « woosh » effect on your first kicks ?

Hmm, I think you're talking about the part where I mess with the decay on the kick?
