Love my ERD/SIR and would jump at the chance to get an ERD/ERD or ERD/y. The WORM is definitely a cool module too, but not something that would fit to my musical goals at the moment.

Just to clarify the modes here's the image from the manual below. All CVs are a mirror image of the knob settings...

Thanks! I wondered if I had the "as above, so below" part right, but I see I also had the Mode controls in the wrong place. Really looking forward to getting this module!

I’ve had a few days to play with ERD/WORM and am really blown away by the wonderful glitchy, looping textures that are so easy to generate with minimal CV.

Here’s something fun you can do with the ERD/WORM: pull ‘subliminal messages’ out of it with ring modulation. I set the Speed and X knobs to 12 o’clock, Mode to between 12 and 1, Z to around 11, and Y between 10 and 11. Now it is saying ‘miracle’ repeatedly. Patch the output into signal in of, say, Moddemix (another ring modulator should work). Using Piston Honda Mk2 as the carrier wave, set waveform to 000 and frequency around noon. Sweeping frequency up, it keeps saying ‘miracle’. Put frequency back around noon and switch to wave table 231. Sweep freq up slowly and at some point around 2 or 3 o’clock it suddenly starts saying ‘bad worm’. Indeed!

The 2018 description on the website is tantalizing: “ERD/RAVEN vocal filters and vocoder, All the Colours of the Noise, and ERD/[z] worm advanced CV generation”. I’m having so much fun with the worm I may have to try them all :75:

Excited to have snatched a ERD/ERD Raven edition. I've been eyeing one of these for a while now and immediately jumped on the chance to get one.

ERD/ERD Raven

When did the ERD/ERD Raven edition get released? I got an Email at 4:00am This morning but they sold out by the time I checked. I have a serious hankering for one of these. If anyone is looking to resell theirs I would love the opportunity. wvrm, When did you get yours?

The Raven edition was released back in May this year which is when I got mine.

Sorry to say I have no idea how that email flaunted itself on the list.

All Ravens have sadly long since flown in May. The production was strictly limited to 10 and there are no plans for a re-issue...

More ERD/WORM speech modules should be out soon however and All the Colours of the Noise is making slow if steady progress.

The last and final ERD/WORMs (post-human speech synthesis engine) have been released here; http://www.1010.co.uk/org/ERD.html

There will be no re-issues of these modules.

Details on upcoming All the Colours of the Noise and a limited ERD/breath will follow shortly!

ERD/BREATH and LICHT: fire and light releases

Post by micro_research » Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:38 am

Image

I am happy to release two new ERD modules: ERD/BREATH and ERD/LICHT:

ERD/BREATH is designed for the precise voltage control (CV) of heat and thus smoke production within a modular, eurorack setting. ERD/BREATH allows for controlled summoning and nourishment of (artificial and benevolent) demons, for the offering of sacrificial vapours, and for any modular use of multiple incenses or other smoke-producing resins, herbs and natural substances.

ERD/LICHT transforms and amplifies the oscillations and perturbations of photons into the massed movements of electrons, thus electricity and perhaps only then into sound waves. There is one amplified output and one gate output (2ms 0-5v), corresponding to the rising edge of a dazzling approach (a disco strobe for example).

Both modules are released in a first batch of 20 units each, within an edition of 50 for each.

More details on both modules and ordering at:

https://www.1010.co.uk/org/ERD.html

All the Colours of the Noise will be released in March 2020.

I’m super excited since I just got my ERD/LICHT, but I’m a bit confused as how to best use it, and how it works. Does the sensor react to all light and convert it into a signal based on brightness? i.e., if I were to shine a fluorescent light into the module the output would be some sort of sound around 60Hz, or at whatever frequency the light is oscillating at?

Also, is there any specific laser you’d recommend trying with it, that would best interact with the smoke from ERD/BREATH?

I can’t wait until I have enough to be able to make a whole ERD system!

Thanks!

ERD/LICHT does react to changes in all light, converting intensity to voltage so yes, a fluorescent at 60Hz would produce audio signal at 60Hz (also a gate signal at that frequency on the second output). Static, unwavering sunlight would not produce a signal. Flames and strobe are good as source signals.

I use a cheap 100mW green diode laser which is probably too powerful, any red or green laser pointer would work - it helps to find the right angle and hold the source steady on a stand!

Great, thank you so much! Flame is a great idea, I’ll have to try using some candles.

Thanks for the more in depth use, I was thinking of setting mine up by having incense smoke disrupt the light.

Whadya think?

If the light source is strong smoke works well - I haven't tried smoke and strobe - could be good! Let me know how you get on.

As far as incense, any Bakhoor works great.
