Definitely doesn't seem like anytime soon. Looks to be dependent on EMS opening back up the shipping out of Japan and even then the manufacturer doesn't seem to be in too much of a hurry. Certainly can't blame him for taking advantage of some nice time off while he can. If I were a betting man I'd say even summer of next year are high hopes. Wonder if people actually buy those units I see going for 100-200% mark-ups.

Yeah, people are getting crazy over this. It reminds me when Teenage Engineering OP1 was out of stock and everyone was trying their luck asking $2000 for it.
Well, I totally understand Brian too.I would probably do the same thing and having him working on a new firmware is amazing. So I believe it will for sure be worth the wait.

Thank you!

Sweet sixteen controlling 16 fixed filters.
Frequencies of filters set up the same as the Buchla 296e
Maths controlling resonance for all filters.
saw wave from rubicon going in.
Using band pass filters from Joes Accents units found here:
https://github.com/SuperNiCd/Accents
Sweet Sixteen don't look like it is connected to ER301 in your Video... so how is it controlling the filters....?

I’ve had an octatrack sitting unused for some time. After going through a selection of readings from this thread, I’ve finally decided to sell it. Now the next challenge is finding an er-301 that is selling for a reasonable price, and wasn’t owned previously by a famous composer... :help:

I sold my Rev1 ER-301 for $1100 and feel that it was a fair price for our current circumstances and definitely not gouging...

Yeah, that’s the exact number I had in mind, and a reasonable approach. When supply is lower than demand there’s an expectation that prices will increase. However, i take pause when one asks 2x retail with claims that their aging digital electronics, covered in contusions and dust from cheese snacks, demand the same premium as a vintage guitar.

how do you know that same cheese snack dust isn't from a Rare Mother Mary and Baby Jesus shaped Cheeto?

i've been off and on about picking up one of these, but current prices are definitely above what i'm willing to pay - especially with hardware that's coming up on 3.5 years old. not that it's any less capable, but certainly a revision is inevitable.

Even if they crumbled the entire Rare Mother Mary and Baby Jesus shaped Cheeto that should still only account for up to $50 :hmm:

I don’t think you’re going to have to worry about a mk. 2 type revision. The ER-301 already went through a bunch of minor hardware revisions, but none were particularly impactful. The biggest change was probably regarding the i2c support (which can be enabled on old units with one simple solder bridge). A major hardware change would most likely impact the CPU of the unit, which is already on a separate pcb that can be swapped out. So any old unit would be upgradable. Brian considered this from the start.

Of course, that’s not to say that it would be a good idea to buy used right now with prices as they are.

Apparently v6 is coming very soon - I’m half expecting it to come with a cpu upgrade (this has always been in the plan as yeah, 3,5 years is 1000 years in cpu years)

This was discussed to start development after 1.0… unless the thinking behind this has changed?

I wonder when the international shop opens up again.
A Deckard’s Voice was sent to me from Japan on monday and it arrived yesterday (in the Netherlands). Shipping internationally from Japan seems to be fine.

My impression from the O|D forum is that 0.6 release is the primary goal. It comes down to the bandwidth of 1 person, so the decision focus on this next big development before dealing with stock/ordering makes sense. We’ll see what that means in terms of when the shop re-opens for international orders, but it’s definitely in the plans.

I read something about the CPU upgrade too, that's why I'm waiting for getting one new, second market prices are getting crazy and I don't want to feel stupid buying one now and then see how a new improved version is released cheaper than one used :foul:

Brian has said that the CPU upgrade will be something you can do with an existing module. Also, it's absurd making your buying decisions based on the idle speculations of uninformed randos on an internet forum.

anyway why pay 1200-1500 for one used (and buy a new CPU later +cost) if in a few months an improved version for a 900 budget is going to be released?

I mean I have a lot of modules to have fun with, I can wait a bit more for one

Also, while not exactly the same thing, once you start approaching $2000, the Percussa SSP becomes an option.

You guys obviously don’t know od style very well

He keeps stuff very close to his chest, to a frustrating point I feel but keeps his sanity....

I would never buy something based on a rando on the internet either so do your research

Two salient points
V6 is a talking point because we’ve been on v5 for a year and we suspect some really cool stuff coming that’s a an already user thing....it’s absolutely brilliant right now
He said that v1 wasn’t even a goal any longer - meaning that by getting to that arbitrary v1 we'll get to where we want and way more

2 - there won’t ever be a mkii so when the chip upgrade happens it’s already thought of - well. Just pop it in the back.

Have you looked into the monome norns?
look up!
