Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
Just got the Mantis brackets to connect two Mantis cases together. The instructions say you should remove all modules except for those in the corners - Do I really need to do this? I just spent a couple hours filling everything up, lol.
Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
A lighter case will be easier to handle and the modules in each corner keep the rails in place during the process.Electro Something wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 1:59 pmJust got the Mantis brackets to connect two Mantis cases together. Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
FWIW. I didn't have any problems adding the brackets with my cases mostly full. Like you, I didn't want to unrack and re-rack everything. That said, I had a pretty good work space and I was very careful and took my time.

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
Cheers for your thoughts, all! Left all my modules in there and it was super easy to assemble.
Although now I'm just realizing that my Decksaver covers no longer fit. Doh!!

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
Hey Tiptop - any chance for a bracket for mounting three Mantis’s together vertically? I think the design is pretty straightforward - lengthen the top of the existing brackets up, connect to all 4 rail screws on the middle Mantis (instead of just 3 as now), then continue to connect to 3 or 4 of the rail screws of the top Mantis. Angle the top Mantis forward slightly. Hoping the spread of the bottom of the brackets would give enough support. What do you think?
Of course at this rate it seems likely I’ll buy a 4th Mantis and do a 2x2 config.
But holding the 3rd Mantis up on top of my existing stack looks like such a nice, contained, ergonomic setup...

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
The base for holding stable two vertically mounted Mantis would be quite large and probably not easy to fit in most spaces. The 2x2 is a good option that several customers have opted to do - you can see it in some of our online videos:michaelbeck wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:43 pmHey Tiptop - any chance for a bracket for mounting three Mantis’s together vertically? Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking the top case would be canted forward over the middle case, not set back behind. More of the Moog profile:

sorry I'm still stuck on my man putting his case on the wall. Did you send your power through the dry wall? I don't see any cabling

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
Has anyone heard anything about when Mantis will be in stock again anywhere? They’re impossible to find right now and I need a second one.

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
I sent Tiptop a message last week about when new stock might be hitting the shelves and they said they’re hoping to be shipping new cases by the end of April.

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
My Sweetwater rep just told me they’re hoping for red & orange next week. Going for the 2x2 config.

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
Can anyone recommend a decent powerbank?
Seems quite hard to find a 13v one and unfortunately my rig is fairly heavy on the juice so I can’t use 15v

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
If you find one can you keep us posted please?
I've been looking for a good battery pack who can last minimum 4hours (preferably for two cases)
For now I'm using an inverter (like the one in RV's and a car battery) I've got two mantis cases and they use like 0.2A on 220V for both !
Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
There is a recommendation on our Support page - https://tiptopaudio.com/support/
Look for a power bank that can supply a voltage anywhere between +13V to +15V DC, 13V will be ideal, 15V is also ok if you are not using more than 2000mA total. Look for one that has an output 2.5mm barrel plug with a positive (+) center pin. As for the current capacity, this is based on your system power consumption vs. the power bank power capacity. It is recommended that you contact the power bank maker directly and give them your details such as the total power your system needs (all power rails summed together +12V -12V +5V) and the voltage range +13V to +15V. With these details they will be able to tell you how long you will be able to run your system and if there are any other issues to be aware of. A Tiptop user (Thank you Daniele) has positively recommended the Aceyoon Power Bank 50000 mAh. This model comes with DC output plugs and can deliver 15V, this power bank is available through Ebay and the European Amazon online store. Be careful to set the power bank to 15V or 13V voltage before connecting it to Mantis, as higher voltages will burn Mantis’ power regulation circuit and create excessive heat and smoke, please take caution.

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
I did see this but the suggested one is only 15v which is advised against using when pulling over 2kmA, want to be on the safe side if possiblecontinuum wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 2:48 pmThere is a recommendation on our Support page - https://tiptopaudio.com/support/

What's your draw on +12v and -12v?ronnieb wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 3:13 pmI did see this but the suggested one is only 15v which is advised against using when pulling over 2kmA, want to be on the safe side if possiblecontinuum wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 2:48 pmThere is a recommendation on our Support page - https://tiptopaudio.com/support/

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
Question please.
Is a 12 volt, 3.2 amp PSU okay to provide power for the 4HP uZeus (the polarity is fine on the connector)?
Reason for asking is that there is one here right next to me now and there are ZERO Tiptop booster PSU's available anywhere here in the UK at the moment...

Re: Tiptop Mantis cases
That is indeed too much +12v to use with 15V. AC power will be fine as long as it is in the ~85V to 240V range of the Mantis brick.

No, that is completely incompatible with the uZeus.Sysagent wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 8:51 amQuestion please.

It does leave me in a quandary though as I do need a new PSU to provide more power to my rack, as it has gained another 3u and quite a few modules and... As mentioned previously, there are literally none of the Tiptop booster PSUs available here in UK or nearby Europe.
