looks like 1010 is getting prepped to release the new versions.
In the 1010 forum, Aaron mentions that the bitbox mk2 processor is "slightly better than the Blackbox", which is pretty exciting news.

Not sure if this has been answered already but does anyone know if the Micro or mk2 accepts both modular and line level inputs for recording?

Just got mine from Detroit Modular, racking it now and very excited! That said, the rear of the module is the dogs dinner, not sure what's going on here but there's a slot filled with some kind of sticky paper (?) with a piece of rubber/felt tape over it. Expansion slot? Not sure (would upload a photo but for the life of me I can't figure out how to on this new version of Muffs.....)

Very interested in this module..... question... can you play AND record samples in reverse?.. in other words, can you overdub on top of a sample while it's playing in reverse?. at half speed?, etc.. A real "looper" should be able to do this.... ala Echoplex Digital Pro.

You can't overdub on an existing cell, you gotta bounce the existing track plus additional material to a new cell. Workflow is different from most loopers but you get 16 tracks to make up for it.

Anyone using this module for drums? I’ve had my eye on the vpme qd but it looks like this thing can do much more for the same price. Well maybe not play wavetables but I don’t want to use it for that anyway.

Does it come with a decent sample pack ?

I use mine for drums only, it's great for that.. on each cell i have a library of 60 drum hits, they are in different categories, e.g snares, bass drums, hi-hats.. each category goes to an individual out. Switching of samples is done via voltage block (perfect partner for this module imo)..

never tried the library it comes with (prefer making my own stuff).

That's the way. Nice to hear someone else using the Slicer to full effect. That's 960 one-shots at your disposal in a single preset? Great idea to use VB for the Slice selection.

yes, i have 1 main preset that i use 90% of the time, then another one which has some other kits + also 4 rows of various sampled synth/bass sounds, also 60 sounds each. Spent a lot of time arranging the sounds in a way that makes sense too, so first samples are soft hits then medium and last hard / loud. That way i can use it live in interesting ways to make very extreme changes in sound. It's especially fun to let just one slider from VB control all sounds. With the slider in the top positions all sounds will be louder and more extreme. for example the last sound of the percussion set is a crash cymbal, last snares are usually super loud / hard hitting and with reverb.

Damn, so you’ve basically got ONE sample of snare shots that is 60 different hits long? Then use VB to select which part of that long sample is actually playing the slice - to get the one snare hit that you want at any given time???

yeah e.g 4 various snare sets; Roland drum machines, Acoustic, Jungle/break, Glitch. So with the acoustic set it starts with low volume / soft hits and ends with full on banging, same with the BD set.. percussion and hi-hat banks are a little more mixed, but i have stuff like crashes and rides last so that they're easy to find if i'm just jamming.

each horizontal row has a specific category and each goes to the closest output (if you follow the row horizontally). That way it's very easy to know what goes where. All sounds are mono.

Is there a separate thread for the BB micro? That’s the one I’m interested in.

Also, do these come with a decent sample library?

Got the micro as my first sampler so can't really compare but I do like the accompanying sounds I've explored so far!
The maker seems to also have a sound sample shop on which you get a discount code for on the memory card.

Added my favorites from here and now I'm good on preset samples for a while:

Did you create the long samples on the device or on a computer?

running firmware 3.0, but my beats get chopped up when i clock the bitbox, no matter in which quantize i'm in. using clip cells, the clocking is not stable, and makes the beats run odd.... Someone else with same issue?
Never had this when running 2.0.

I can suggest asking on the official forum, they are usually quite fast to respond there. If it's a bug they'll fix it i'm sure..

Getting my MK2 next week. 🥳
Can’t wait to sample all kind of drums and glitches from BIA, Manis and Verbos into it.
Cheers, Denise

Just received Bitbox mk2. Manual isn’t finished on 1010 site... is there any way to adjust parameters of delay & reverb fx?

you should ask the 1010 forums, Steve monitors those closely.

Contemplating picking one of these up in the future, primarily for CV recording/CV sampling and manipulation of said CVs. Does the Bitbox mk2 seem like a good option for this, or would it be completely overkill? Any other cool alternatives out there for that kind of thing?
