Wouldn't that just be a matter of having a MIDI implementation chart for the Vector?.

This is not about mapping a generic MIDI controller to some parameter. This is about Vector driving bi-directional communication and state with a very specific controller API. I’m not sure whether this is quite the correct API reference guide, but it’s one of them:

Thanks... I get it now.mdoudoroff wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 11:46 amThis is not about mapping a generic MIDI controller to some parameter. Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
All I really want to do is change presets and scenes so maybe Vector will support MIDI CCs for those some day. Might require some hacking on the Linnstrument side to be laid out the same but its firmware is open source.

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
So it's only note on, note off via MIDI? You can't send a simple program change from a MIDI keyboard?
Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
Oh wait no, I missed this part in the manual:
All right maybe custom Linnstrument layout is back on the menu.manual wrote:MIDI PROG IN: Enable reception of MIDI program change or note
number messages to change Presets and Scenes on the Vector. MIDI
Channels 1-8 control parts 1-8, channel 16 is for scenes. NN48 mode
starts with note number 48 (C4), NN60 starts with note 60 (C5).

Ahhhh! so I can use a generic midi controller... I assume the launchpad provides more functionality than that.scragz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 12:35 pmOh wait no, I missed this part in the manual:

Yes, sorry Martin, I will read, I have to now because I just placed an order for my Vector.

I also watched a video of the launchpad integration.. A little confusing because the guy was moving very fast

Now time to order the expander and empty my wallet completely.

It’s an excellent sequencer. One of a handful at the top of the field. You will find things to love and not love, as with anything, but it nails a mentality that is compatible with some of us.glennfin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 1:47 pmYes, sorry Martin, I will read, I have to now because I just placed an order for my Vector.

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
I've been looking at the USTA and the Black Sequencer but decided on the Vector. After watching multiple videos and reading, the USTA UI just seems confusing. The black? meh.. another tiny screen?. The display on the vector looks to be very readable. Of course these we not the only things that swayed my decision to go with the Vector, certainly the obvious support from Jim was a strong factor as well as other things.. I'm looking forward to the journey!mdoudoroff wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 2:20 pmIt’s an excellent sequencer. One of a handful at the top of the field. I currently have in my rack;
NLC Bindubba
Vermona Melodicer
Euro modified Yamaha QY70
Hermod
The vector will make number 5.

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
Hi,
Does the launchpad pro MK1 work with the Vector sequencer?
The manual says V2.04, but is there a 2.04 official (not beta) firmware version available (I couldn't find it)?

Would love to hear more about this, or see some pictures. Sounds really cool

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
I don’t think it’s a matter of mk1 not working necessarily but more that the rgb colors weren’t in the mk1 and so you can’t get any visual feedback because the interface with vector relies heavily on different colors differentiating different functions.
At least that’s how I understood Jim from five12 explaining it in one of the deep dive vids.
Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
Today I was trying to use the presets
I am using 64step sequences
and noticed when switching between the presets
say 1 to 2
it seems to change at the end of 8steps when selected
Does anyone know if there is a way to have it change at the end of the 64step sequence before goin to the next preset?

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer
So I’m still learning my Vector, but I was thinking about if I maybe should get rid of my Marbles now. They’re not the same things of course, and I really like my Marbles, but it might be a bit of an overkill to have both. I think it’s possibe to mimic a lot of its features on the vector with modulation, but I feel like I’ll def miss the Deja Vu and Bias-functions. And also the directness of it is very fun and inviting UI. Anyone here who got rid of theirs?
