Would it be possible to double the positive Config Gain to +24dB in a future update? There are sounds where +12 dB is just not enough.

Definitely possible. Can you give some examples of these sounds? Curious to know where it's not enough.

Beautiful bells and other tasty high percs from Plonk, scattered through the Rainmaker to create the main high frequency spectral interest in this deep track:

Cheers man. Switching between a few different well chosen presets on Plonk and manipulating the x and y mod inputs really has the feel of a proper acoustic percussion section, its so handy.

Plonk 1.14 beta is now available: https://forum.intellijel.com/t/plonk-1-14-beta/1279

We've added two new features: a saturation / distortion and a bitcrush effect. Details available in the thread linked above.

Often if the octave is high, the volume goes low, like the instrument goes out of its powerful range. Some of those sounds are very nice, but very quiet.

Did this (24db gain) happen, allready?

1.14b saturation and bitcrush fx sound really good! I normally would have to patch in a wavefolder or stompbox to get that level of distortion but now those can be freed for other duties. Game changing update imo!

My only feedback is that for certain sounds, such as preset 96 Overtone for example, where the output is fairly loud to begin with (defaults at -12dB gain) , extreme bitcrush/saturation settings actually sound quieter than the dry signal.

It sounds like there's an output limiter with the threshold set too low. The preset sounds much better/balanced when I lower the gain to the lower limit of -20dB to compensate for this, but I still wish I could go slightly lower so saturation sounds slightly louder than the dry signal instead of sounding totally balanced.

If you're going to make it possible to add more gain in a future update you should probably also make it possible to lower the gain past -20 and/or give the user control over the limiter threshold.

Thanks for the beta!

Very cool news on the new firmware! I'll update my Plonks soon. Does updating delete the presets on the plonks? I think I have them backed up but I should probably double check that...

It shouldn't affect your existing presets, but then again it *is* a beta so backup would be prudent in case there's a bug with the preset load or save.

Got it, will do. Really cool that you can (theoretically) update firmware without erasing presets though! Saturation is a great feature, really excited to try that out!

For this module, since there's preset sharing via sysex etc we built some backwards-compatibility into the preset loading, so even presets created with Plonk 1.0 can be loaded with all future versions without having to be rewritten.

Thanks very much peeps! It’s not released anywhere I’m afraid but I can send you a wee link to your inbox. I’m away from home visiting family at the mo but will send a link when I get back.

Seconded. I have 2 and I use the Config Gain to balance the volume of each before they go straight into my mixer. High frequency stuff can get a bit lost even at +12
