Love the Beast-tek modules I have ( 2IGDs and a dirty glitch). Thanks especially for offering DIY at MA and Thonk. I had the same issue as Mostin77 though which made the first build pretty frustrating to test.

That Dirty glitch is downright diabolical and finds its way as backround madness in a lot of patches.

The Glitch drums are great too, but there are some issues with sound bleed when they are in trigger mode. I know digital modules have their own noisy issues regarding power supplies etc..., but the demo videos seem to have the noise issue as well, so maybe it was intentional? Anyone else experienced this?

No, I have this problem w/ my Glitch Drum too. The output is not that hot compared to the background noise. I always end up having to amplify it to fit it into the mix right, but then that brings noise with it.

Amoeba / Microbe Sequencer

Post by aliencHemistry » Mon May 14, 2018 5:04 am

Did anyone already try the Amoeba or the Microbe Sequencer by Beast-Tek? Cool looking modules, I am very tempted to buy a kit build one.

Keep hovering over the buy button... would really like to see some updated videos of them separate and put through there paces...

Yes, they're both great. Like Grids on roids!

hallo All,

My Irukandji Glitch Drum is giving me the troubles.

I'm experiencing frequent glitches (heh) where the screen defaults to "---"

In this state, I cannot change the patch and the module makes no sound.

Re-seating the power cable & re-booting the case seems to fix it but hoping for a more permanent solution as tearing a module out of the case every-day to re-seat a power cable is not positive for my work-flow.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Microbe Sequencer

Post by derjip » Wed Oct 10, 2018 4:25 pm

Hey guys!

I got my Microbe Sequencer kit lying around and want to build it, but can't download the build guide from here. Also I can't find the file anywhere else. The corresponding file of the Amoeba Sequencer is working, so I guess it must be some server side problem. Can someone help me out?

Thanks

Definitely curious about those gate sequencers, can anyone who has tried both comment on whether the larger version adds enough functionality to warrant the space?

Thanks, now it also works for me. Weird, last I tried, a few hours ago, it still didn't. But, now I can begin, awesome!

I just found out that I can't download it with Firefox (62.0.3). Chrome works fine, though. Just in case anybody else experiences similar issues.

Hi,
Hope someone can help.
Trying to decide between Amoeba and Microbe.
1. Does the Chaos CV on Microbe has the Shuffle/Swing function when negative V is applied and Chaos function with positive V?
2. What are the clock divisions on the clock divider mode? 1/2 1/3 1/4 etc? Is the divider Musical or Binary(Mathematical) or both?
3. Some rhythms I heard from Amoeba sound heavy-metalish (lots of fast repeats). How do Mircrobe rhythms sound in comparison?
Cheers

Got a reply from Beast-tek
1. Chaos CV on microbe only controls chaos. There’s no swing/shuffle.

all knob movements are slewed through some linear interpolation? can I get a firmware that responds instantly with maybe more glitches? probably the slew is to prevent glitches. this is ironic. anyway it is a fun module. I will definitely use it. I haven't really explored every patch. I thought it was strange that all 4 knobs are frequency knobs. I would have liked it better if these were for tweaking a parameter in the algorithm. something like a seed or a waveshaper. if most of the algorythms contain XOR functions then most of harmonics are similar to ring mod side bands. I think it needs more shift registers, less XOR. if I have XOR on every patch then it becomes like this ring mod sound I can not get rid of till I drop down into low frequencies. some patches don't have this problem. I am still looking for something to replace the equation composer and black death.

Built the Amoeba today, and wow! It's friggin' excellent! So many cool beats in that thing, and the CV control you get just makes it immensely powerful. Can't believe how overlooked this thing seems. Brilliant.

Gotta say, I'm realllly not a fan of the new "black and red" aesthetic on every module. The old versions were so much more beautiful. Another one bites the black panel dust.

"At the core of Amoeba is an artificial intelligence based 8 channel algorithmic rhythm engine with full CV control to manipulate the beat patterns."

What exactly is AI about the Amoeba?

Yeah, agreed. I tried really hard to find the white panel for the Amobea, but only the black one was available. Euro seems to be all about black panels these days though, so I can see why they thought it was the way to go.
