Ohh, thanks. I’ll slip in one more newbie question: The manual describes the Recent Values screen, but doesn’t say how to reach it. How is it done?

...the Patch button when you are on the sequencer screen

Thanks :cloud: My slight confusion might be because I started this NerdSeq thing out using MIDI tracks, which don’t seem to have all the stuff in them yet. Appreciate the help!

No problem. It is a super deep sequencer so there's a lot to learn. I'm still figuring things out too.

A question for the Nerdseq + expander users: is the expander module easy to build into a case (as in: get rid of the front plate and deconstruct it without destroying it?) I'm trying to keep all the I/O in the sides of my case.

I did this with my midi expander, was easy. I removed the midi jacks from the pcb, glued the pcb to the bottom of my case, drilled holes in the side and wired the midi jacks to the pcb.

Yeah, just release the hexnuts and you can put off the frontpanel. Shouldn't be any issue except for LOSING WARRANTY!!!

Hahah, just kidding. All should be fine and no worries about warranty. Just don't hurt yourself

I contemplated wiring up the midi io expander to the midi ports on the back of my Intellijel 7u. In the end, I realized I didn’t have the required skills. Instead, I secured the expander inside the case and attached a couple of male to female midi cables which hang out of the top right 1u section of the case, using up 1hp. Works well for now!

I wonder if it would be possible to do without disassembling the expander. Pinout needed?

I'm in way over my head :D I was just wondering aloud if it's as simple as connecting the expander pins on the back of the module to the DIN MIDI IN/OUT jacks in the Intellijel 7U case. Might not be the case (no pun intended) at all.

No, this has been discussed here or in the XOR Forum already. Even though the Midi expander is passive, it has the needed opto isolation and specs to work properly with midi gear. Hanging something directly to the expander port could kill the device.

I have not, but came in here looking for an answer to this very question. I'd like to pick up a launchpad for my nerdseq, and the new one looks pretty cool.

How do people integrate the NerdSeq in setups with other sequencers? How do you handle, say, pattern changes? Haven’t find the optimal way to sync Elektrons with program changes. Maybe it would just need to be done manually?

I use Nerdseq incombination with Polyend Preset, WMD Sequential Switch and Acid Rain Switchblade.
Nerdseq is programmed in "Island" offcourse and with one hit on Preset button i can change 4 switch settings on WMD and Acid Rain, and 5 settings on modules.

Nice, sounds like a very powerful combo :) the Preset is interesting.

When using live transpose via the CV inputs, is there a way to make the transposition happen instantly? In my limited experimentation with it, transposition seems to only happen once a new 16-step bar begins.

Manually, and that's the beauty of it! You can run a beat on the elektron, and for instance bring in 1 pattern of your next "song" on the nerdseq. Then switch the beat later or bring in another pattern. This makes transitions a breeze.

I am using Pam’s as my master clock and Erica Synths MIDI <-> CLK; I set the NerdSeq for external clock as well as an MC-500; one press from MIDI <-> CLK syncs both sequencers fine! The NerdSeq is receiving clock pulses and the MC-500 is receiving MIDI clock and both of those sequencers can be programmed in a way to play an entire song so I am not making changes after they are started.

I did it! I'm somewhere between very pleased, proud, smugg, happy, and so forth. A combination of those. It was easy too! I did some DIY before but it's not like I'm experienced. With some through hole soldering skills and common sense it's a very doable project. I did the same before with my Intellijel Audio I/O jacks. I have to say, it's VERY satisfying to plug whatever MIDI into the side of my case and sequence away, highly recommended.
