Hi,
Is it safe to update straight from the first firmware to firmware 204?
I did. Works great.
Thanks :tu:

After several unsuccessful attempts I was told that I successfully installed the firmware... and now my Pam’s won’t output a signal from any output. I can see all parameters, but there’s no output. Any ideas?

Did you check the rev?

The new quantizer feature is there, so it’s the new version... but the outputs are not putting out any signals.

there are two versions of the new FW, depending on which revision of Pam you have. make sure you flash with the right one or there will be problems.

OK, got it fixed... I'd downloaded the correct firmware, and also the RAR, but I had the correct file in the wrong directory. Mischief managed :sb:

Download and update worked perfectly here too. Windows 10.

Thanks ALM

Updated to 204 successfully on a Mac after several attempts. It wasn’t until I took my Macbook out of clamshell mode, unplugged everything (usb, as recommended in ALM instrux, power, etc) that the firmware app was able to detect the Pam’s. Then it installed quickly, up and running.

Hey I have a question about the scales. Is there a way to change the root note and if not, what is the root note?

I would assume the root is whatever you’re tuned to at 0V. There’s no other control over it besides on/off and scale.

Does the module light up or anything once connected via USB? I’ve tried 3 different cables and nothing has happened so far.

The module doesn't light up, as noted in the manual section on firmware updates.

>>holding the workout<<

my pnw's encoder click not always works, so attached on-off-(on) switch at the foot of pamela.
At ergonomisch position on panel, for middle finger.

toggle switch - up = click and hold
toggle switch - down = click

with switch-up, encoder also works, so muting channel is more easy.
no more annoying misstep.

Reposting this here, which seems like a better spot. Not sure if this actually works, I've been having trouble getting this to behave on beat. Can Pamela's New Workout with the recent firmware update quantize a CV input, outping at a rate matching the CV input? Here's what my basic patch looks like:

Image

A /6 gate is going from PNW Ch.1 to Stage's input. Stage's is producing a simple unquantized sequence, which is output to Maths Ch.2. I then have a slow LFO going from PNW Ch.2 to Math's Ch.3 (to try and transpose the sequence slowly). Finally, the sum of these two sequences are being sent to PNW CV1 input.

This is where I'm running into trouble. I'm able to set the waveform on PNW Ch.3 to CV1 and quantize the output. However, I'd like for this output to only trigger when stages triggers. I tried multing Stage's output to PNW CV2 and setting PNW Ch.3 modifier to CV2. But this is clearly not working (my understanding is this only changes the clock modifier of PNW rather than release a gate). Is there way to set PNW to only output Ch.3 when the quantized input changes? I want to be able to modify the note length of the sequence with stages and have the quantization follow that.

Appreciate any help people can offer. Perhaps I'm thinking about this in the wrong way.

So, stoned thoughts and I haven't nearly read through all 65 pages of this topic, but I think it'd be incredible to see an expander for PNW (or for the next model, Pam's Long Holiday maybe?) that has 8 touch sensitive rotary encoders, corresponding to each of the clock outs, that'd show the current value of the last adjusted parameter of touched out, and then allow you to adjust it. Maybe in 4-6hp with staggered decent sized knobs, fingers quintuple crossed for space at the bottom for an aux out for the last selected clock.

Found a super cheap Pam's Workout, will be nice to have together with the New, now when the New has so many other things you can use it for.

The first Pam is just clocks/triggers, right?

Hi Peeps :)

I thought I'd have a go at updating my PNW firmware.

Was a bit of a mither but mainly because I neglected to RTFM.

Once I followed the instructions in said manual all appeared to go okay.

I have a REV062 PNW so I downloaded the appropriate bin file.

I put my PNW back into my case and did some basic tests by patching some outputs to one of my Distings. Didn't need to hook up sound to my DAW because I could see the Disting LED sweep from red to off (PNW doesn't go negative I believe).

Anyway, what is worrying me now, ever so slightly, is when I check my command window (I'm on W10 Pro) it displays the following:-

F:\pam>dfu-util -a 0 -d 0x0483:0xdf11 --dfuse-address 0x08000000 -D alm017-204.bin
dfu-util 0.8

My concern is the following two lines:-

dfuERROR, clearing status

Does anyone here know what the "dfuERROR" is?

Should I be worried about this?

cheers, and thanks,

The only change over the previous beta release is the quantiser now (as requested here) does a sample & hold on a random waveforms last value when some kind for pattern is applied preventing it from dropping to 0V and allowing for much more musical sequences.
This is a brilliant move, thanks.

is it possible to connect / stack two PNW-Modules that they run at same BPM ?
Or do I have to use a channel of the "Master"-PNW and insert it in the Clock-In of the "Slave"-Module?

Yes, that’s how it would work.

You could always use a stacked cable for that channel. Chances are you’ll be sending a straight clock somewhere else anyway, right?

Hi! I don't know exactly what "dfuERROR, status = 10" means. But I did the update twice (202 beta / 204 final) and I got the exact same DFU output followed by an excellent working PAM. So from my humble point of view this is nothing to worry about.
