Matthew while on a talk on Knob Twiddlers Hangout #6 from Stoor (Speedy J) just said that there's a new firmware for PNW in the works!

Already? They just released an update like a week ago.

Bit strange that, unless some issues need fixing with the one we got last month.

Ok I seem to have found the solution. I just set the PPQN to 1 in Pam's. That allows me to do exactly what I was intending - using the t-section of Marbles to drive Pams. This means I can use the bias knob to increase/decrease the regularity by which Pam's moves forward.

this is just a reminder for future-me when i'm doing the next firmware upgrade...

hey, remember that if you're updating from a Linux machine and you get "dfu-util: Cannot open DFU device 0483:df11" - you need to use sudo!

So. Say I wanted to set up 6 channels on PNW to to gate mode but have each gate trigger one step (time interval) later than the previous. So that track 1 goes high, then gate 2 then gate 3 and so on. How would I do that?

Play with the Phase setting, that should get you there.

When I heard about the new firmware for pam I thought it would be super cool if they could figure out how to incorporate E-Trigs in a similar way to the Squid (sends a trig at the end of a sample) so that you could chain modulations. Pretty sure that is what you looking for here?

Another thought could be to use Euclid and set it to 6 steps then rotate each channel? Haven't tried in practice but it kinda makes sense in my head :drunkbanana:

That concept is a bit redundant here considering the functionality of the module is to work as a clock and not a one-shot sampler, it's already doing this when you think about it - with the end of the cycle of a channel being the same as the start its next cycle. With Squid it makes sense because the length of the samples are not constrained to the tempo and stay the same no matter what, unless you trim them or re-trig before a sample reached its end. If what you are saying is to have one channel fire off at the end of another's cycle - then that can be done just by offsetting the phase and getting the timing matched up because, again, the core of this module is to function as a clock, meaning a loop unless programmed otherwise.

The phase thing is a bit trickier as you need to divide the phase by the number of steps but you can only express that as a 2 digit percentage. A more elegant way is to set EStep to 6 and Etrig to 1 on all 6 channels so that each channel only fires once in every 6 ticks and then set each channels Erot 1 higher than the next.

nb. I've just come across a slightly weird issue with this though where channel 2 isn't really behaving as it should so I need to investigate what's going in with it (unless it's a fw bug, can anyone else check and verify?)

Edit: Yep, I'm not really sure what the deal with it is, it works slightly differently from how I'd expect but for some reason if I set channel 1's Erot to 6 and -1 for each subsequent channel I get 6 channels to fire off one at a time.

Step 1: Estep 06, Etrig 01, Erot 06
Step 2: Estep 06, Etrig 01, Erot 05
Step 3: Estep 06, Etrig 01, Erot 04
Step 4: Estep 06, Etrig 01, Erot 03
Step 5: Estep 06, Etrig 01, Erot 02
Step 6: Estep 06, Etrig 01, Erot 01

BKM Panels had a black panel with the MN Black and gold shared system look - but Brian shut his company down a few months ago.
I have the LXd black panel from him and it's truly unfortunate that he has shut down operations - the quality is excellent.

Just noticed on Modulargrid there is a limited edition black panel version, but it's already SOLD OUT unfortunately:

Since I was one of the people bugging ALM for a display as bright as Squid Salmple, I snagged one on principle. He probably should make more. Perhaps he shall?

If you want more, wouldn’t hurt to tell them: info@busycircuits.com

Oh wow. That is gorgeous. I would love a real ALM black panel for my PNW. I'm not fond of the MN look... this is so clean. He should sell replacement black panels for the charity donation too!!
