This is such a huge update for me. A dedicated logic module has been on my wish list for ages, but I've never had space for one in my 12u case.

What can't Pamela do?

Just released 206 ! It just fixes the _|‾ rendering in 205!

http://busycircuits.com/firmware/alm017/

(Knew I should of done a wider beta release :waah: )
Thanks, but I prefer the sounds of my waves with the _|‾ rendering ;)

Just got my Pam + Pexp-1. Looking at the expander cable, the arrow is on the green wire on one end and the white wire at the other end. I wanted to confirm that this is correct, because the picture of the other expander in the manual looks like the same color wires are on the arrow on both modules.

Thanks!

Not sure if it was the failed updates or plugging it back into the case wrong polarity but I bricked it. Lovely I should have quit while I was ahead
is the screen completely off when you turn your modular on? the only place i can think for starting to troubleshoot is to make sure you downloaded the correct software for you PCBs version. did you check to make sure you got the correct version for pre/post 'Rev 62' board?
Yes its off when I power it up in the case too. I did get the correct Post 62 bin file. I talked with ALM trying to figure it out. No luck so far.

Is it possible to change the hold-press time for secondary functions? I'd like mine to be much faster so I can programme it more rapidly.

These new features are amazing though. Logic is hugely welcome.

+1 to this. Not a big deal at all but shortening that hold time would be amazing.

Just received Pamela and wondering how to set calibration to value 50?
Mine is 00 and when turning the dial knob nothing happens.

I noticed that the modifier symbol for "gate on stop" changed from _|‾ to &|‾ while the modifier symbol for "gate on start" remained unchanged |‾|_. Is this on purpose or a super-minor bug?
Arg, thats actually a bit of a boo boo :( It is still _|‾ just the font has got a little messed up... Im sure a 206 will appear very soon.

063 Pams no longer support calibration - h/w changes mean it shouldn't any longer be needed (or really possible).

Calibration only changed the displayed BPM representation no actual timings.

An update to my earlier question:

Ignore the arrows on the connector cable. They have nothing to do with the arrows on the PCBs. Make sure the same wires are connected to the same symbol on both PCBs.

Not sure if this a stupid question, but I've just updated my firmware, mainly to use the quantiser. And I can't see anywhere to set the root note, only the scale. Am I missing something?

I believe it's just done on intervals, so I assume it's set with C as the root and then you can just tune your osc to whatever root you wish?

That's odd. It's still showing as v. 204 on your website!

the download manual on the website links to a v206 manual for me. the latest firmware link also goes to the correct page calling out v206 although the text on the link says v204

This is such an awesome update and I've long dreamed of smooth, slow random cv coming out of Pam's. I was quite surprised by what the Level control does though - I was expecting it to attenuate the smooth output but instead it introduces a increasing amount of disparity between the end the completing trigger output and the start of the next (right? I'm not going mad am I...) This does allow you to create some really cool wonky effects tho, so I ain't complaining - you can always externally attenuate the 100% level output to get a less extreme, 'pure' smooth output.

What would be some good use cases for the smooth slow random output?

Is there a way to have PNW's outputs not trigger on the first step after 'start'? For example I want to use a gate to be triggered every 48 steps, starting with the 48th. Any setting I've tried (including eucledian rythm) has the output trigger first on start, then following assigned pattern from there.

Smooth random is great for modulation where you don’t want a pattern to be obvious. I use this for VCF frequency cutoffs and resonance amounts, wavefolding amounts, FM indices, etc. I find that it’s especially useful with drones. Smooth random is also widely used in generative patches, e.g., the Krell patch.

Great new updates, Pam is turning into a powerhouse!

One question and one recycled feature request:

1) When i sync Pam to "slow" clock sources, e.g. Hermod which don't put out 24PPQN but only do 1/32 notes - it often latches to the wrong tick and while having the right tempo is out of phase with my master clock. Is there a reliable workaround? I've tried different additional run modes, e.g. trigger in, run/stop etc but i can't get it to work reliably (using Ableton as master clock probably doesnt help either, i know). It's the last remaining puzzle piece to my hybdrid setup being in sync and latency free.

2) I've asked for a setting in the past to never save state on a powercycle or the ability to save a default state. I was told that Pam is full and nothing can ever be added to it again which has since been disproven in an impressive way, hence i'd like to bring it up again. Not having a clean slate to work of drives me insane.

Hi! You might mute this channel before the start. I don't know if "mute" itself is CVable, but you can quick toggle mute for a channel by pressing the start button while holding down the encoder knob.

Hi! Ok, this is not as direct as your request, but a quick "clean PAM" solution for now might be a global reset (holding down the encoder on the BPM screen for global settings -> reset -> "yes").
