Useful comparison!

I think you could add the Kilpatrick Audio pattern sequencer and definitely Carbon somewhere down in the 'external' or 'alternatives' lists. Carbon has CV/Gate outputs and is basically a pattern sequencer rather than a linear MIDI sequencer.

So when recenelty i got to play with a verbos multistage it was so refreshingly hands on and instant, i had completely forgot about that aspect of sequencing :)

However i do not that if i had that sequencer instead, i would eventually find it too static and pattern-y for a lack of a better term.

Btw i find that the teletype can be more flexibly approached than other sequencers. More like a toolbox of behaviors than a sequencer. Plus you can always program a step sequencer type or a rene type module using the i/o expansions...
:tu: for the comparison.

p.s which sequencer did you settle for?
You’re welcome.

I kept my René and added a Koma Komplex. (I have owned, but rejected, the ER-101/102, Control Forge, and Eloquencer.) i have some curiosity about the Teletype, but haven’t gone there yet.

I’ll definitely add Carbon. The Pattern Sequencer module seems like a cool trigger sequencer, but unless I’m overlooking something, feels out of bounds for this comparison. However, I just noticed that Kilpatrick does offer the K2579 Step Sequencer. Somehow, I had missed that in the past.

Nice work! :tu:

Maybe add the Tetra Maps sequencer made by Signal Arts?

That's the one I meant - had the wrong name.

On further research, seems to be no longer available.

This is a fantastic list that you have been upgrading. Many thanks for your efforts on our behalf! :yay:

I'd like to add the GRP R24 for your EXTERNAL sequencer list. This sequencer is like the DarkTime by Doepfer but larger, more expressive, and has more input and output control. I use it in many of my patches.

Great and useful comparison. What about the Klee? Might not have all the features the other does but it has a lot of unique features.
FS: Erica Synths Hi-Hats D $175, Cymbals $175, Stereo Mixer v2 $100, Intellijel 1U Pedal IO $70, MIDI $110, Rebel Tech Bit Reactor $95

This is a lovely resource. A note on the Hermod: it does have a per-track ratcheting/arpeggiation effects.

Added USTA. Also added release years for each product.

Yes, an interesting device, but seems be DIY-only and generally defunct as a product. I guess there are some kits left out there, but I’m not even sure where to link to.

Brilliant!

Many thanks for the work you've done on keeping this updated. :yay:

I return to this often while plotting my next move. My most recent purchase was a second Metropolis. My next move is toward a playable >= 4 channel sequencer.

Cheers! :guinness:

I believe Qu-bit octone could be in the list.

I added the ARC TKB to the list at the bottom. It doesn’t quite fit in the primary focus of the comparison, which is on pitch+gate sequencers, not all possible sequencers. I’ll add the Random Source TKB (4U) to the externals list once there’s a solid URL available for it.

When I first started this comparison (2017!), the Qu-Bit Octone didn’t fit in, either. However, the scope of the comparison has creeped a little over the years and I agree that Octone definitely now belongs in the comparison. I just added it.

great list - an addition: befaco muxlicer is an (up-to)8 stage cv sequencer with gates.

I just moved Bloom up into the main comparison.

I will ponder adding the Muxslicer.

Perhaps the Future Retro Mobius is worth a mention - the Gate output does need to be attenuated in most cases (it's +12V).

Thanks for the wonderful list!

Would you consider adding the type of storage, if any, that each sequencer has? Number of sequences, banks, if internal memory or sd...
