you can simply search in the "for sale" forums and you can also check at modulargrid's where many of the modules turn up.

Buying the assimil8or new, when on sale for Black Friday was cheaper
than any of the used units I ever saw. By a lot actually. Just sayin.

Morphagene vs Assimil8or

Post by _ttc_ » Tue Dec 17, 2019 4:53 pm

Hi all. I’ve read through this encyclopedic thread over the last few days, right in the nick of time for the new firmware. Feel well acquainted with the unit and what it does well and am very excited to hear it in action.

I’m interested in thoughts on Morhpagene vs the Assimil8or.

I’ve been quite enamored with Morphagene over the past few months, largely because audio quality and how good things sound pitched way down and how immediately you can find your way into really interesting sounds. But I’ve found myself wishing I could do a lot of things with it that it appears I could do with the A8.

Seems like the trade off is the immediacy of the morphagene (plus it’s granular functionalities) vs the all out flexibility of the A8 with a little more work up front to make it feel super “playable.”

This is a broad ask, but basically looking for any general thoughts or opinions folks might have who’ve used both.

"When on the Zones page, double-Click the
DATA1 encoder to bring up a popup menu
containing zone operations"

Can't seem to access this feature as it's stated in the manual, is everyone else able to do this? When I double tap the data1 knob nothing special happens.[/img]

double clicking data1 on channels works well, though.

As Gohan2A says, you need to be highlighting the sample you want the operations to affect in order to get the operations menu. I'll make that clearer in the next doc rev.

Did a live stream improvisation with the Novation Peak and Assimil8or for looping multiple parts with the new SOS feature for building a soundscape. Can't wait to explore more of the new features, but loving the looper/SOS so far. Although I did hit the sample ram limit fairly soon. Is there a quick way to remove everything from memory except the samples that are currently loaded on channels/playing?

dang, this is so cool. In the midst of all the excitement about chopping/exploding, I hadn't really stopped to thing about how excellent SOS is, and how it adds a lot of 'performance' fluidity to the module. really cool. Thanks for sharing this.
