Great demo video and lovely sounds indeed. I'm a huge hexinverter fan, but to be honest, I am a little bit surprised to see such a complex osc module from hexinverter. I really don't wanna do them wrong but to me it seems like a huge step into new territory, compared to mostly percussion and noise modules so far. Anyway, count me in!

This looks pretty cool!

Anyone know what the price is supposed to be? Modulargrid says $599 but is that accurate?

$599 or cheaper still, they said on FB. They don’t know yet.

EDIT: Ah, the DPO costs $599 in the US too. Didn’t know that. Standard price in the EU is about $750-800 (inc VAT).
New track! Drum synthesis heavy, melodic piece where Instruō harmonàig is doing the chords. 🐡

It’s listed as being 535 euros on Modulargrid. That would make it like 100+ euros (or $120+) cheaper than the DPO over here.

I wonder why the Mindphaser provides tzpm but not tzfm? Should be totally independent and possible, or am I wrong?

FM, TZ or otherwise, happens at the oscillator core. What they did with this module is PM the oscillator’s output in the analog domain, on top of any FM already applied. Could be similar to Happy Nerding’s FM Aid? I don’t know.

TZPM sounds much like TZFM, so you’re getting similar results without adding to the complexity and cost.

Really? I know TZFM but not TZPM so far. From a theoretical point of view I’d expect it to sound quite differently. Which existing module or combination does TZPM already?

I have the WMD PDO, it features an single analog sawtooth VCO core (with exponential and linear FM but not TZ) that goes through a quad channel digital waveshaper of which one channel is fixed and the other three are +/-360 deg phase modulated. It’s a grungy sounding oscillator, the Mindphaser is much more hifi.

The Richter OSC has a fixed phase output and a +/-90 deg phase modulated output, as far as I know it’s purely analog.

Akemie’s Castle is based on a Yamaha chip, as far as I understand it does TZPM in the digital domain similar to their DX synths.

Schippmann has a beast of an oscillator that does TZFM and TZPM in the analog domain... AFAIK it’s the only one that does both.

I’m sure there are other oscillators with TZPM, these are the ones I know of.

:hmm: ... WTF? guess I'll use the ignore button?

Anyway I am super excited for this module. It sounds luscious and cannot wait.

Has this been answered???

what does through zero mean here is that i uses a bipolar vca for the mod?

A guess is that the separate tzpm bus is based on one of the Barrie Gilbert sine shaper circuits discussed in this thread:

viewtopic.php?t=177513&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Lots of great info there if you want to know a little more on how it works, and here: http://wiki.openmusiclabs.com/wiki/SineCore

Who knows though, might be something completely different :despair:

The Gilbert style shapers sound great though.

It means that with positive CV in the PM input the phase shifts in one direction, in the opposite direction with negative CV and back to center in between - it moves through zero.

Another interesting characteristic is how far it can shift in either direction or modulation range.

i know what through zero means, but was wondering in which way its implemented, a tbipolar vca is sometimes also called a through zero vca

They released this video around the time of Superbooth. Anyone hear a more concrete release date?

Ha, oops, look like it linked from the FB page earlier. I missed a lot of posts! But yeah, that video was titled Superbooth 2018. Ha, was that in lieu of being at Superbooth?

He was at superbooth but the oscillator was not.

That is a bit weird. I wonder why? Why release a video, then go to super booth and not bring it? Makes me think that because the video was all 3d renderings that the module is actually no where near completion. So then I wonder, what are we actually hearing in the video?

A fully functioning prototype lacking bells and whistles like a proper front panel? Something that makes the sounds but that you wouldn't bring to a trade show? Just a guess. :omg:
