Wiggle Hunt, a new and used modular gear shop search engine

Post by mattdennewitz » Sun Jan 21, 2018 5:50 pm

(x-posted from General)

Hey, I wanted to share something I made: Wiggle Hunt.

I just joined the modular world. While building my first rack, I quickly found that I wanted a way to quickly search used gear across many sites for the best deals. I built this site to satisfy that desire.

Right now, I'm bringing in new and used inventories from stores in the US, EU, UK, and CA, and am continually adding more stores. Users can search by make and model, gear condition, stock availability, specific store, and geo region. Inventories are updated twice daily (with care taken not to crash shop sites.)

I hope you find it useful. I've already found a couple of great deals from Control, SwitchedOn, and Detroit Modular. Bookmark it!

Please don't hesitate to reach out here or via the site if you have any questions!

You have been Patreon-ed :sb:

This is already extremely great, and I look forward to seeing how it grows or is tweaked. Keep up the great work.

Cool. Also would be nice to be able to select whole regions. Like "Europe".

Whatever, he can just exclude these sites from the database. Their loss.

Well, many sites has those kinds of terms without actually enforcing them. It might be more about being able to act if someone really missuses what they scrape from the sites. In this case the sites only have to gain from the initiative so my guess is that they'll let it be.

Also, claiming "copyright" of price and availability information is a bit far-fetched. My guess is that Schneidersladen is referring to reviews or descriptions with a certain level or originality.

That said, great service! It will be really good when most shops are included. I think that thomann.de and gear4music.com should be added asap. They are huge stockists.
New track! Drum synthesis and melodies. ✨

Speaking of stores to be added, not sure if it's there yet but Analogue Zone is my favorite.

Theirs and Thonk are where most of my earnings go.
