Thanks for the help, but yes, there's a sort of security lock on the card slot so that you can't put the SD card "face down"... so mine is face up, as it has to be, and it's still unrecognized by the module.
Maybe I should buy another micro SD card and return back my current one...
Other ideas welcome!

Take a close look at your soldering of the sd card holder. The soldering is pretty fine pitch and it would be easy to create a bridge.

Ok thanks, so I'll have to check that with the builder…

Didnt you build it yourself ? (The licence doesnt allow for commercial sales/builds.....)

The builder is one of my friends, there's no commercial aspect about it (or even some beers!), no worries about that.

And to close this issue, it was a faulty micro SD card, the Samsung micro SD HC 32Go I've just bought is working fine!
Thanks for the helps, and as far as I've get into it, this sequencer is a beast!

commercialisation is different from building a few and selling them so even if your friend did make a beer or three its okay

Hi guys, first try with it this afternoon and it's awesome, though I'm just scratching the surface… midi keyboard to the midi input, hardware synth on the midi output, midi recording, divisions per tracks, probability, etc, it's all I wanted.

Are there any demos of the newest firmware or close to?
look up!

Anyone know if there is a way to record/overdub off of the set grid?

I have been messing with it most of this weekend and I think thats the last feature I have been trying to get working to fit my workflow.

I am comparing this to my MPC 2000 where i usually turn off the grid/quantization for my kick drum and/or hihats or to add life to a synth bass line without constraints of time quantizing.

is it possible to use the cv ins for quantizer function with microtonal scales?
I like to connect one or two Doepfer A 198 Ribbon controllers.

Can confirm CV in's from a keystep are quantised to the set scale and since you can define your own scales (in terms of voltage)....

selfdestroyer

not something i do

so not sure

but simon added gate offset to note sequences, allowing to delay gates in v0.1.17 so there may be some hope

I really love this module. I posted a build diary on my blog chronicling the build.

Hopefully it is of use to someone, or at least mildly amusing.

I have a couple of strange things happening with my Per|former - wondering if anyone else has to troubleshoot similar issues?
On the Monitor page CV Input 2 constantly shows a voltage of +5

Also MIDI in was working until I put the panel on and now it seems unresponsive. No notes, clock, or info on the Monitor page when sending MIDI. I've tried different MIDI dongles, cables, etc. Very strange.

Any help and info is greatly appreciated - thank you!

I've made some unofficial modifications to the firmware that may be of interest:

tempo mode : pattern plus encoder adjusts swing (submitted to the firmware maintainer as I think this is helpful for all?).

random generator: random button which quickly changes the seed on each press but keeps your other settings

Beat Generator (called QuickRandom for now) that has buttons for :

- sparse, medium or nearly full gate patterns

ideal for hitting over and over to get something you like.

- "Beats" key which cycles through common rhythm motif's

- "Notes" key which generate random notes (no smarts to it yet) but keeps the notes in an approx. 3 octave span.

Open to your input and suggestions.

After I learn the code organization more I want to create a generator that randomizes notes and gates at the same time (or generators that in general take the contents of other tracks into consideration when generating their output).

Would also like to build a mini-grids that puts common beat patterns on multiple tracks with a single interface.

The code and built setup are really easy to get started with btw if you have thought about working on it. i can share my pre-built firmware if needed.

Which MIDI Adapter cable works?

Post by bscooper » Tue Nov 05, 2019 6:46 am

I tried to use my Keystep over Midi with the Westlicht Performer and the MIDI to jack adapter but not reaction. Which MIDI to Jack adapter works for that? Are there any differences?

Per|former Song Mode

Post by Z_U_L_U » Sun Nov 10, 2019 5:33 am

Can anyone help and tell me how to get the song mode to start from the sequencer of the Octatrack, I.E, send start/stop msg from OT and song mode starts on Performer, as opposed to song mode just starts and doesnt care.

Manual does not state how to do this. Only how to run songs from within the sequencer itself.

Many thanks

The feature list states „Sequence generators“, but I cannot find anything further in the manual.
Can anyone point me to more information about that?

no docs on them but see my screen shots above for a general idea. screen shot #2 (minus the rightmost "random") is the random generator.

in the online demo :

https://westlicht.github.io/performer/testdrive/

press

alt + s1

then

shift + alt

you'll see the screen show "gen" in the right-most "tab", press the key below and you'll get the generators.
