On most other PM/FM oscillators, an output conditioned into a sinewave usually exists... do I undertand it correctly that's not the case on this monstrosity of insanely powerful super-oscillator? It sounds and looks like a very nice oscillator for massaging waves as you see fit, overall

That depends on your perspective and how much the timbral channels are 'blended' together using modulation, ie. you could simply switch between them for different notes in a sequence or slowly sweep through them using a multi-phase LFO such as Filter 8.

Yes there is, the fundamental output is a sine wave. (Definitely watch the videos!)

Once the bugs are smoothed out on this thing it’s gonna be a beast. Already sounds good except for a few rough spots.

Watch the sonic state video? There’s a fair amount of noise as he wiggles the knobs that I’m pretty sure isn’t how the final product is imagined to sound.

From the demo I got from Joran at SB and in the demo Joran did in the cinema space, it was only in the phase modulator knob that there were any clicks (and not always). No probs with the exp. FM and thru-zero FM, and the various outputs of the osc. We modulated everything with everything and it sounded amazing-- really amazing.

Too bad it's going to take a bit more time than anticipated. Simply put, demand for my modules has increased to the point where production is taking up the majority of my time. And getting a design from 99 to 100 % always takes longer than you expect...

I'm putting everything in place to release the module in November latest. I know this is still a long way off, but you'd be amazed how long in advance you need to plan production for a design like this (especially if you want to do everything the right way).

It's definitely on its way though, no vapourware here if I can help it...

Joran, your modules are a work of art and totally worth the wait. Thanks for the update! It's gonna be a fun winter once this arrives :-)

Joran, are you still a one man band or have you got some help?

If not, I’ll book the next flight over

Luckily, I started working with a local assembly house from the start. Much better to gradually get all production processes on point, than doing everything yourself and then scrambling to go factory-built once it becomes absolutely necessary. Testing and packing is still on me though, as that's the final QA stage. Add component sourcing, general administrative stuff, the occasional modular event and you've got well over a fulltime job.

You're welcome to book that flight though, could use someone to sweep the lab floor. :hihi:

Using a VCO to create white noise? No problem with Generate 3 and some feedback patching!

While G3 is primarily designed to create clean and reliable waveforms, you can push the circuit beyond its limits using feedback patching. In this patch, the even output signal is used to modulate the phase parameter. At maximum frequency, the result is a pristine white noise signal from the fundamental output. Adjusting the frequency allows the noise to be 'tuned'.

That sounds really amazing. Been looking at demos of some of the other modules as well. Can see a what appears to be a strong Serge inspiration in some of them, taken in really interesting directions. If I was going to consider building a single-manufacturer eurorack rig, Joranalogue would definitely be the top contender. Won't happen, tho, can't give up my Metasonix. :hihi:

Today's listening material: a soothing piece of modular music by Nordlys, created using his Generate 3 prototype.

Has a price range been discussed yet? I’d love to set this little beastie next to another certain large thu-zero oscillator of mine and just never leave the house again.

It'll be around the €350/$350 mark.

Although there's been a slight delay in production, Generate 3 is now wel underway and pre-orders are opening at dealers as we speak! Reserve yours now and you can expect to have it in your hands in about 2 weeks: https://joranalogue.com/dealers

In addition, the product page has been updated with the user manual and many new demo sounds. Enjoy! :goo: https://joranalogue.com/generate-3

Woo-hoo! Not showing anywhere yet but I will keep an eye out for pre-order.

Love Joranalogue modules! Just added Filter 8 yesterday to Compare 2, Contour 1, and Select 2.
