After watching some of the demo videos I was really impressed with how lush some of the fx are. Then learning you can load in different fx algorithms was the icing on the cake. Patiently awaiting for these to become available again.

Finally good news regarding FX AID’s new run: should be available in Europe in around two weeks and in four weeks at Analogue Haven.
Hi Igorrr,

does that also include Schneidersladen in Germany? I've talked to them today. Unfortunately they can't tell me anything regarding a new delivery at the moment and there seems to be a waiting list (which is not a surprise :hihi:).

Thanks!

You never should mix anything to mono before FX AID. Mono input effects internally mix left and right inputs to preserve all instruments in case some of them are hard panned. So you connect L and R inputs from your stereo source and everything will be fine.
Igor,
You mean "[y]ou should never HAVE to mix anything to mono before FX AID", right ?

Mono input effects do not loose hard panned instruments. FX AID uses mix of left and right channels for those mono input effects. The user can do anything he/she likes to achieve.

New effect added to the list: Delay Karplus-Strong. This effect can be exited by ordinary triggers or short bursts of different noises. This stereo micro delay can also be used as manual/CV flanger or in other applications like Haas effects.

is there a chorus or stereo delay on the unit, that creates the haas effect or makes it easy to create it?

Midi Amsterdam is planned to be shipped soon.

Still reading this thread from the beginning and not totally clear for my application:

I´m looking for insert FX between drum modules and mixer (everything is in Eurorack). Some modules will send mono, others will send stereo. I want to be flexible on the output side as well, so it would be great to be able to run any of the configs:
- mono in to mono out
- mono in to stereo out
- stereo in to stereo out and
- stereo in, mono out

Also a bit concerned about levels, so how much drop will I see between dry and wet, using delays most of the time, some reverbs and the rest is not that important. I understand this may vary between the different effects.
I´m happy when it rains - for if I´m not happy, it rains as well.

FX AID has no issues with stereo/mono. It has true stereo pass for dry and wet signals. For mono sources the user can patch only the left input, it will automatically copy it to the right input and you get mono in the center for dry and stereo wet for “mono in – stereo out” effects.
There will not be noticeable level drops for most of the effects. But please be wise and do not feed it with more than -6…+6 V signal levels.

Thanks for the fast reply!

The drum modules in question are the WMD ones for now (crater, crucible, fracture, chimera) and maybe a vpme.de QD later. I have no idea of their output levels, still planning the whole setup. Not much info on the websites unfortunately, so let´s see what their tech support says.

In case those throw full 10V at the AID, is there any attenuator that would be a known as a good choice for audio? The Erica Pico Dual looks nice, but I wonder if they are suitable for audio?

Worst case, I can still redesign and stick to my two aux busses on the mixer, but that would take away a lot of tweakability.

You can check those drum modules directly plugged to the FX AID for unwanted clipping first. And if the levels can really be too high, then some attenuation will be needed. My 2xSAM is suitable for stereo attenuation (and boosting if the jumpers are set that way). 6xMIX is a good choice for mono attenuators/mixers.

Hi! Sorry, a little off topic, but the QD has a build in level control for each of the four voices. Beside that I can also recommend 2xSAM for (Stereo) attenuation. Or when you have to line in external signals (e.g. from pedals) into your modular case ... works excellent :hihi:

Thanks for pointing those out, will be a good fit for the fracture (stereo) and the dual crucibles (pseudo stereo). I don´t mind to waste a few hp to use the SAM on the mono crater. But first I need to get the AIDs delivered, maybe the output levels don´t create any issues in the first place. Gruß nach Bembeltown by the way ;)

@igorrr: 6 MIX looks good too, I will need to rethink my channel layout. Won´t hurt to have some more options to route signals, depending on how I want to have shared fx or dedicated.

Love the FX AID, and I want another one. It's amazing that so much was fit into 4hp and it sounds SO good.

I sold my Big Sky to buy one and had money left over and have no regrets.

Anyone know if there's a way to clock sync delay repeats on FX Aid? That's something I use quite often.

Syncable delay is already in the factory effects list under №7.

Here's a video overview of the module with some side by side Strymon Big Sky comparisons.

Received my FX Aid this morning and have been playing with it all day.

Initial impressions are all extremely good. It sounds absolutely gorgeous - as you'd expect given that it accurately emulates some top-notch bits of outboard.

The FX Aid app is a dream to use and the firmware update procedure is the best I've come across - not only has it worked first time, every time - but the fact that you don't need to power-cycle the rack to get into update mode is an absolute godsend. Having the ability to export a PDF of your presets is the icing on the cake!

One thing that I wasn't expecting to love as much as I do: the sample rate reduction - it sounds incredible with the reverbs and is very sensitive - lending itself well to tape-warble type effects when automated by very subtle amounts of CV. My only wish at this point would be to be able to utilize the D/W input for sample rate modulation whilst still modulating one of the other parameters - could that be changed in software at some point or is it fixed in the hardware?

The knob spacing is tight but given the choice, I would have preferred this over an 8HP module. I'll be checking out the rest of the Happy Nerding catalogue as a result of how impressed I am with this module. I can see a second FX Aid appearing at some point. Many thanks to all involved!

Sorry, D/W is fully analogue and can not be reprogrammed to control digital parameters.
