Count me in on that.

A weekly update on KS about what number has shipped up till now isn't too much to ask methinks.

Since the first of these have started to ship I was hoping to hear more audio or read more about user experiences while waiting for my preorder. Anyone been digging the looper?

I've played with each of the effects, but in my recordings I've been favoring Spectral Time Machine, Spectral Crusher and Spectral Drone generally. I think the looper is nice for its tape emulation but haven't made anything of it yet. There's a lot in the module to play with :)

I have not been over here lately as USPS (how I shipped all the E520s) decided to implode on July 15th. It has taken me 3 full weeks to 100% change my entire shipping procedure: everything from how I print bar codes, to signing up for DHL, to the shape and size of shipping boxes.

I have it all sorted out.

The E520 orders are in 3 sets: Pre-KickStarter, KickStarter (specifically, Nov 15 - Dec 15th ordering period), and post-Kickstarter.

a) 100% of pre-KS orders have shipped (64 units)
b) 65 of 211 KS orders have shipped (70 units)
c) there are 50 post-KS orders

I average 22 E520s a week shipping. I can't really go much faster, as I have other modules to also ship + shoot Patreon videos. And we had a major E352/E370 firmware update thrown in last week for good measure.

It is true I use my FB Group for the majority of updates/supports, but will check over here more often.

There is a scheduled E520 firmware update on Oct 21st which adds more algorithms, tidy up the UI, etc. No major bugs have been reported so far (we had 12 beta testers, so much was caught early).

I'm slow, but I do good work.

On behalf of us folks with no FB, thank you  . And more than good work, you’re doing great work worth waiting for. Much appreciated!

+1, good communication is MUCH appreciated ,Thanks !

i got my E520 in the meantime, ....and was first shocked how big it is  ( which has ofcourse been communicated )

then i´m very positivly pleased how good the pitchshifting sounds !

there should be some focus for the future on some algos working based on using the good pitchshifter would i like to suggest.

Not an official source, but modulargrid lists it as $629...

Most appreciate the update. Nor am I surprised by the schedule slippage. Especially since I'm in that last part of the queue, it's easy to put it out of my mind knowing that you're putting your heart into supporting everyone who's ordered a module.

Something I just realized this morning: take a basic FM sweep, even with a 1:1 ratio with sines, and run it through Spectral Crusher to get all sorts of crazy harmonic sweeps.

It's also fun for cutting the fundamental out of ring modulated signals. All kinds of fun with Shapeshifter, combo mode Ring, quantize the modulation oscillator and sweep its ratio with an LFO... wild stuff :D

a) I'm 40% through the KickStarter orders

b) there will be a new firmware release in min-Nov that adds features and 3 (maybe 4) new algorithms (and 1 big improvement on an existing algorithm). I'll post the details when we enter beta testing around Oct 15th.

... is it wrong that I -love- the voder on this thing? It's so dumb, but the exactly *right* sort of dumb. It's also funny, before I got it I was way looking forward to the various delays, but I've ended up spending far more time with the Spectral effects overall. They're not as immediately obvious or intuituve, but each of 'em have had this sort of "...oh. Ohhhhhh.....okay" moment and they're incredibly nice.

***UPDATE***
We are starting on the V1.1 firmware release, which will beta in Oct and be released in mid-Nov.

If anyone has improvements/suggestions/bug reports/algo requests, now is the time for consideration.

Shipping is a bit slow last 10 days or so due to holiday weekend/shipping other modules to dealers. But the next 2 weeks will be blasting through the KS orders, another 40 or so out the door.

I had a thought last night about spectrally generating the sidebands of FM synthesis and ring modulation. :D

The FM version would use Bessel functions, with ratio and index parameters, and a threshold below which the bin passes through unprocessed. For a fourth parameter, maybe a "tilt" that de-emphasizes sidebands above or below each bin's original frequency. Of course it wouldn't be exactly like FMing with oscillators, but it should be really interesting!

The RM version would have a carrier frequency and a threshold, maybe the tilt as well to favor the sum or difference sideband, and... maybe good old phase blur or pitch shifting for the fourth parameter.

I also wonder if a similar technique makes sense for harmonic distortion, but that's an area where I'm a lot more fuzzy (so to speak).

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been trying to imagine how this would be coded but I keep coming up against a fundamental truth of spectral processing:

You can't add bins

You can move bins around, you can stretch them and shrink them and play with the levels, but if you try to add two bins together all you'll get is nasty noise and sadness. I don't see how the FM idea can work without that.

Hmmm, that does take the wind out of the sails (and reminds me that I never really went very far in my FFT experiments, and even those were slightly past the line where I actually understood what was going on anyway :hihi:)

Oh well :)

from the KS newsletter:

https://soundcloud.com/paul-t-schreiber/e520newalgo1
Guess the algorithm?
seems exactly like one of the things i wanted to request.

sounds like: the "delay with pitchshift" algo, but with a added shorter timerange !

i´d need to check which algo it exactly is, but my request is a shorter time-setting as an option on the allready existing delay with incl. pitchshifting ( not the one with independent pitchshift controls for R-L )
A time setting which is *exactly* tailored for the karplus strong area is my request,
at least at something like from full CCW to something like 10:00 (or 11) o´clock on the pots stroke ( for KS range), then from there up to somewhere around 250ms.
With a *really* subtle control in the, lets say: 0,01ms to 50ms seconds area ! definitly in the 1ms to 15ms or so area, and further still subtle to 50ms.
The trick would be to be able to go from precisely controllable resonating into the lower end of delaying, up to 1/8 .......or even 1/4 or so, but not necessarily higher ( longer).
so, karplus just alone would be here NOT the whole point, alone ;)

my request in general:
definitly MORE karplus/ Resoantor style ready delays !!.......but with added twists like pitchshifting,
and also some granularisation ( in combination) ( need to post separatedly on this)

it's 4 Karplus-Strong delays with 1V/Oct tracking, chord mode, and a quantizer
