Judging by the hundreds of Crater PCBs on their Instagram stories today, I’d says it’s soon.

I saw a post on the Rabid Elephant site with a status update on the next run of Natural Gates and a break down of their upcoming projects. The long and short is Portal has been expanded to a desktop unit with playable elements? IIRC they’re really focusing on their new sequencer design and that project may have absorbed Portal. They did say they might produce Portal as a Euro module after they launch their opus.

It's in full production right now. Will be shipping very soon (by mid December). Holidays and a beefy snowstorm here are precluding me from setting a real ship date.

THANKS POSEIDON.

Awesome, can't wait!

Really love what you all do at WMD - my favorite euro manufacturer by far (my case proves it!).

Really appreciate all the YouTube videos Alex does - extremely helpful and watchable.

I like
I like.

-may be help ful for some folks if the op was edited to show the production version, I was confused if there were 2 different craters.
as I generally dont read every comment in threads for yet to be released modules, just focus on the manufactures posts rather that consumer speculations if it yet to be released. and had to read(rather scroll through all 3 pages to figure out that the module had been changed up..

Done, thanks so much for the heads up. The panel has gone through a few revisions before making it to this final look.

Received my Crater today....really excited. Calling it a bass drum module is being a bit modest. Had kick/percussion/bassline all coming out of this little guy.

The clipping switch and saturation CV really gnarl it up for melodic basslines. At first, I was thinking a separate trigger for the click section would have been cool, but you can accomplish similar with the click level CV to add to select hits. Between the gate sustain and cv control, this thing is quite the versatile module.

i mean... WMD does some of the best product/use demos in the bidness, so i wouldn't even try to do a demonstration vid for their loot.

if more jammy stuff is what you mean, this is the Crater and Fracture through a 100 Grit, the hi hats later are Squid Salamabelple action -

Yes honestly the demos posted already are so good and in-depth that I doubt it makes sense to put another one.

I might post a filthy techno track with a heavy kick this week-end though.

Question for WMD; since the manual isn't out yet, do we have any control on the max accent level? It does seem very subtle to me. Also the accent input seems to work better with triggers than gates on my setup, is it the proper way to use it?

Thanks!

It's what I meant yes. The demo portion is indeed very well covered by Alex !
Thank you for you video.

@ggillon, since you also have the Erica sequencer, do you feel you are "missing out" on the gate length feature in relation to the sustain or is wiggling the sustain knob just fine ?

Yes and no. There is the gate track on the drum sequencer, but I can also use it for the bassline. On the other hand I have other options available with a keystep and a few other modules that output gates too so there's always a solution through some patching.

The metron looks perfect for this module, but I really like the drum seq too...

edit: which makes me think I need to investigate the behavior of the accent outputs of the drum sequencer to see if can be used as simple source for gates instead of triggers
