Got my Es 9 yesterday and tried it to connected to Ableton CV tool. And I didn’t get the audio signal from my Oscillator out into the input 1 of Es9, also I tried to set the CV instrument pitch to the Ext. out 4 and it didn’t connected to es9. I set channel configuration 1-6 input mono and stereo and 1-6 output mono and stereo in Ableton. I don’t know what parts I’m missing here, I’m appreciate it if someone could help me out.
Ys521wow - I was setting this up last week for a client, and noticed in the manual that the ES-9 analog (3.5mm) outputs are actually 9-16. So if you're trying to send gate and cv from the cv tool, try assigning output 9 to the Gate and 10 to pitch. I tried that and saw the output jack light up with the MIDI clip playing in Ableton.

From the manual:
Channel numbering
The default channel numbering in your DAW will appear as follows, though this can be
reconfigured as required.
Main outputs: 1/2
Headphone output: mix of 1/2 & 3/4
S/PDIF output: 5/6
ES-5 output: 7/8
3.5mm outputs: 9-16
Thank you! Also I noticed my MacBook settings wasn’t right. Now I’m happy w my Es9.

Can you plug guitar post pedals straight into es-9 using some 1/4 to 1/8 cable adapters ?

You can, though the signal will be a little low coming into the DAW.

Hello again,
I just received my es-9 from Thomann and it sounds really good!
I have a dumb question that I didn't exactly found an answer to :
Is it possible to have my apollo and the es-9 running and have all the ins and outs of both machines appear on Ableton?
I went for the es-9 instead of es-3&6 for the many inputs and outputs.
Thanx!

Yes, if you're on mac. With difficulty, if Windows.

Use the Audio MIDI Setup utility to create an Aggregate.

How is the sync. I am about to pickup a es9 and work with that as a cv interface and have my apollo16 as the audio interface but i am worried about sync issues with ableton.

Has anyone tried the ES-9 with an audio interface plugged into it? So it acts as an input (let’s say you have an audio interface with phantom powered mics plugged in)?

I haven’t found a video or examples of this working and just wondered if someone had experience. Cheers!

Not sure what you mean. How would you connect the other audio interface to the ES-9?

Hi guys,
I received the ES-9 two days ago and am super happy about it. Many thanks to Os for sharing those great tools and information with us!!!
As a begginer in the modular world, I am struggeling with some basics and search for your help. I had to face the same problem as described above. I was struggeling with the CV Tools calibration of the oscillator "Z3000".
By sending a signal from the oscillator singwave into...

>ES-9/input 1
>CV tools
>CV instruments has no incomming signal
>Audio from -> Ext.in -> input 1

CV pitch is sending from...
>CV instruments
>Ext. out.
>ES-9 out. 9 (ES-9 output 1) to "Z3000" - 1V/Oct.

CV gate is sending from
>CV instruments
>Ext. out.
>ES-9 out.10 (ES-9 output 2) to "Z3000" SYNC

At the preverences all mono inputs are activated. Stereo inputs only 1/2. Activated mono outputs 1/2-15/16 and stereo 1/2-3/4.
Midi preverences inputs and outputs of ES-9:
track_on
sync_on
remote_on

By starting the calibration pitch and gate signals are lightig up for 2-3 seconds, then the calibrations stops, showing
"error! non or insufficient control voltage. check connection between audio interface and oscillator increase master volume of your audio interface."

Where am I doing wrong?

Are you on mac? If so, have you enabled the DAW to access audio input ('access the microphone') in the macOS security settings?

Hey, so far the sync is really good, I didn't have to set any type of delay for it to be on time. I haven't worked on big Ableton sessions but I will let you know if any sync problem comes up.

Well I think you are going to be very satisfied!
In my opinion, the other great feature on this machine is the quality of the sound I got by NOT going through my mixer, then into my soundcard.
Instead of many conversions, I know only have one, and it's so much better that way!

Yes, that's it! Now its running perfect! Many Thanks for your quick support Os! I really enjoy my decision of buying an expert sleepers tool and am happy to buy another one (ES-5) on friday.
