Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Mine finally scanned in to US Customs! Hadn’t budged on the tracker since April 23rd. If you’ve been anxiously waiting for one I thought you’d like to hear that.
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
damn that's great news. i ordered mine on april 17th and it's been in limbo in between NL and los angeles since may 5th.
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
+1 this is great news, thank you!! Still waiting in limbo today but fingers crossed. I'm in LA area as well.

it's up again
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
I wonder if these will load ( wavs ) been waiting for a hardware convolution reverb to load these for years.

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Can anyone highlight how many impulses a card can hold and whether the card can contain different folders of impulses ?
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
As far as my tests go, it would be very well possible for
those IRs to load. I’ve successfully loaded a
couple from different sources. Though I haven’t tried these specifically.
W.r.t the amount: I’ve loaded over 200 on a card, and I suppose the limit is possibly only restricted by the size of the card. The catch is that there is no folder support currently, so browsing many IRs is a bit cumbersome.

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Ok it's 1811 EST and it looks down again. How am I supposed to order a module I can't even get to the site of? I gotta say I'm a little nervous ordering an expensive module that depends on firmware if they can't keep a website up.
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Probably just demand is higher than they anticipated and they didn't buy enough server bandwidth before launching this thing or something. I doubt it's due to the technical deficiencies of Tasty Chips' programmers.

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
No I get it, but I don't get why they don't get a distributor or host or something. This is the third time I've tried to go to their site (with the intention of buying) but it won't load. Is anyone distributing this?

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Both times you’ve reported the site being down I’ve opened it fine on my end. Perhaps there is another issue? Maybe you could email them directly at info@tastychips.nl and see if they can help you out.

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
btw, firmware update(s) are not possible on user end, they 'll have to change chips, hence the name
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Under 'Control voltages' the ECR-1 manual states that the "Aux" CV input "currently modulates pitch bend", but the diagram states that it currently modulates the wet signal. Which is the actual default status, and can the Aux CV input be reassigned easily?

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Interesting. I used a US-based proxy and it came up fine. Very strange bc I am not with a small provider or anything like that. I tried on 2 different computers (two different OS) both with the same results but the proxy comes up fine. Very strange.Dark Barn wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 8:05 amBoth times you’ve reported the site being down I’ve opened it fine on my end. Perhaps there is another issue? Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
I’ve tried the 2nd edition of these IRs and they sound really interesting! Especially those vintage reverb plates and the ones with harmonics. Works well in the ECR-1.1kip wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 5:01 pmI have also heard these which sound fabulous!

By the way, if someone has other ideas of IRs, it would be interesting to post them here![]()
That said, does anyone know if you can extract the IRs from altiverb, or know of any high quality room response library? Ideally in stereo?
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
There are a few free libraries online that might do the trick:erde wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 2:53 amI’ve tried the 2nd edition of these IRs and they sound really interesting! Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Currently it modulates the wet knob.
As far as i know there's currently no possibility to change this.
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Thank you for the awesome suggestions! One question though: The Waves IRs are in the wir format; It seems proprietary found some info here: http://freeverb3vst.osdn.jp/tips/tips.shtml -- but can the ECR-1 read it? Did you try? Or do I need to write my own converter for it?nikmettez wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 5:30 amWaves

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
I personally don't pitch the impulses all that much, as i find results not that pleasing for my applications.
One thing i really like doing is setting the release quite short and setting or modulating the position. When a reverb dies out, it loses high frequencies so it colours the sound in a very nice way. Great for percussion.
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
I completely forgot about them being in .wir extension. I have a folder on my computer where i store all my found and created impulses, but i didn't use the waves ones yet.erde wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 8:32 amThank you for the awesome suggestions! If you get them to work, drop a line...
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
I actually managed to pull out IRs from them using the commandline and sox, if they are stereo:nikmettez wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 9:16 amI completely forgot about them being in .wir extension. tail -c +125 inputIR.wir | sox --norm -t raw -b 32 -c 2 -r 48000 -e float - -b 16 --norm outputIR.wav
YMMV

Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Re my above questions, I've just had this reply from Tasty Chips on messenger via their FB page.
"We'll release a V2 DIMM (you can swap out the DIMM) on the back of the module and this will feature assignable aux, and a lot of other features."
Re: Tasty Chips ECR-1 Convolution Reverb
Cool stuff!
