Doepfer NAMM 2020 modules

Doepfer has won the hp:vca arms race with that octal linear vca. 8 vcas — ALL with trim pots AND multiple mix outs? I know people get excited about crazy samplers and convolution reverbs and granulators—that's cool and all but shit this might be utility module of the year already for me.

Assume its a deep module, as most of the their modules I've seen use THT. If it's SMT, wonder if its discrete or 2164 / 13700 ic vcas?

Always wanted that Octal VCA from Cynthia which I never could find somewhere and now this is gold for less than 100 $.

I can’t believe the price point on the octal vca. It’s really, really cool as a utility module and barebones mixer. If there was some way to get an expansion module to control output levels I’d be so stoked.

I'm trying to understand whether the a-133-2 can also offset things without external CV. My interpretation says "yes" but I'm not sure :despair:

Damn cool stuff. I imagine if you use that joystick's CV outputs for the CV ins of that quad VCA you get a badass mixer.

Does anyone have any idea when these modules might be available for public sale? Perhaps sometime in the spring?

I don't think so from the German-language description - without external CV the Man knob attenuverts and the CV knob does nothing.

:hmm: Then why does this part exist "The Mod socket is normalled to +5V, i.e. a constant positive voltage is used as modulation CV provided that no plug is inserted into the Mod socket." ? I don't get how this module works by the description.

Hang on, there's a block circuit diagram. I missed it the first time due to Doepfer's site being a bit retro and not rendering properly on mobile.

Ah, that clears that up. I also contacted Dieter, who is amazingly fast at replying as always, and found out that there's no way that the module can offset incoming signals right now. Too bad, it would be amazing if it worked as a DC offset, an attenuverter and a VCA. I mean, that's a utilitarian dream right there!
