Still awaiting shipping notice here, though I was one of the last to get the early bird.

I don’t think I got a shipping notice- just happened to see a package from Belfast in the UPS app. It’s supposed to get here Wednesday, but appears to have been sitting in Germany since Friday night.

It has arrived! Good God, this thing looks beautiful! Can't wait to get home from work and plug it in!

Big thanks to Barry for all his diligence and hard work bringing this mad monster to life! Implementing the dynamic CV outs and SD card reader was a huge ask yet he met the challenge without trepidation.

Here's to my impending virgin voyage with FLUX! I'll be counting down the minutes.

First patch. Baby steps...  :cheesy:

Very straight forward. Each channel is sequencing only a single step. No macro controls or modulation buses. No CV outputs used. No sequences of odd lengths. Everything conforms to the 4/4 kick but manipulated into unusual placement creating sloppy swings and rolls. All clocks and triggers coming from FLUX. Recorded as a stereo mix into Ableton with compression added in post.

Note: If you have an SD card you must have it inserted at power up to be recognized. You cannot insert card while running to save presets. On a related note, it's not very hard to document the parameters which is what I did.

Also Note: I used the internal clock at 100bpm recorded into Ableton set to 100bpm. Amazingly, it looks like FLUX clock is accurate to Ableton. The kicks line up with the grid through the length of the track. That's pretty unusual.

Great demo! That swing! Thanks!

Good to know tempo is similar to ableton. I noticed the same with cirklon.

Barry has been following the tracking, and sent me a message apologizing for the apparent holdup in Germany. I didn’t message him first- he’s actually watching all the tracking, and sent me a message when he saw it going wrong. I think that level of involvement is pretty amazing- most people would just shovel stuff out the door as fast as possible, and then hope for the best.

So he’s going to use DHL for USA people from now on. I’m totally amazed to see this level of involvement in shipping optimization. What an awesome dude!

Thanks, everyone! More to come as I explore the vast features of this beast. I promise that. Need to record this patch as separate tracks before tearing down tonight and starting over.

So far operation is pretty simple once you grasp the core concepts. The limited number of parameters are pretty easy to keep track of yet capable of so much variation. Also helps they are grouped as pages in a logical fashion, and the buttons are a great help in getting where you want to go.

A big thanks again to Barry for creating this amazing module! Looking forward to seeing what we all do with it.

Received mine today as well. Beautiful and fairly easy to use right from the beginning. I found it a little confusing at first that pressing the encoders is used for switching channels instead of switching steps - which seems like the more common operation so far - but i'm already used to it after an hour of playing around with it. Only other slight annoyance is that it's a bit hard to switch pages since there's a lot of parameters by now and you have to scroll through all of them to get to the next page (or is there a shortcut for that?). But not a big deal, especially since the pages seem to be well-grouped based on how often you need to access them.

So far I mainly played around with lower density levels and masks. There's a lot of interesting rhythms to be found there that I wouldn't have come up with by myself, so that's already very inspiring. But I think I'll have to do a lot more exploring before I can make good use of the higher density levels and curves. It really is it's own synthesis method. You quickly get to places where it doesn't make much sense anymore to trigger an envelope with the resulting gates (just because they're so fast) and it seems like it's more interesting to listen to the triggers directly as audio and/or waveshape the result. I'm definitely very excited to spend more time with it.

I think this is one of the most innovative modules I've seen in the last few years. Also flawless execution on the kickstarter - the final product exceeded my expectations by miles, it was delivered on time (or close enough, especially considering the whole corona business) and there was great communication throughout the whole process!

Thanks to Barry and congratulations on the awesome module you created!

Sorry to hijack the thread but I’m super intrigued by this cirklon observation. I record my music in single-takes with everything synced to cirklon and all parts captured in multitrack. I used to have warp switched on but decided to turn it off after hearing it has bad effects on long pieces If recorded audio. In order to get my beats to line up with ableton’s grid I have to make a verrrry small change to ableton’s BPM. As an example: if I record a piece at 128bpm on the cirklon, it lines up perfectly on ableton’s grid when I set ableton to 127.9855bpm.

I’m interested to hear your experiences if it seems to line up and if there’s anything I might be able to do to get it to align? I’m well aware that unsynced hardware and software typically won’t stay matched, but because the cirklon has absolutely NO jitter it is possible to line things up if the tempo is matched.

Not with precision. My backing number is 67. Still not message regarding shipping. I know it’s happening, but man, I’m so looking forward to get Flux...

Pretty sure he posted that the first 50 were shipped in a batch and that he was working on prepping the second batch to be shipped. That seems precise to me.

Got mine today too.
Its a beautiful Module !
MUCH Thanks @barry
Good packaging of modules seems to be a standard now, so not surprised on that ;)

my module and the Qucikstart guide are not inline with each other,
my FW is Beta 1.05 .......is this the one supposed to be loaded ?

for example do i miss on page3, global, the fourth parameter: CLK ( not there)
can´t set it to external clock. (since thats the first thing i just wanted to do)
(edit: wait, the quickstart shows 8 parameters, i have 3)

Do i need to load another FW, or is there a trick to enable that 4th parameter and make it visible ?
Thanks

Glad to see that the modules are starting to arrive! Apologies that I am not around at the minute but I am working through all of the final assembly tasks to get the remaining modules shipped asap. As soon as all modules have shipped I will be uploading some demos of the updated features along with some tutorials and I will be around to answer any questions. If anyone has any urgent questions please email flux at iolabs dot co dot uk.
