First patch with the FLUX. I'm using it to trigger and otherwise clock/cv the Soma Pulsar-23.

OK, i just felt like opening a new thread,
dedicated to discuss which samplers and modules work well with the triggerstreams coming from the FLUX,
and related problems or limitations.

would be great if we could have that sort of debate and your posts about these specific experiences there

i´m ok, to update and keep a listing going in case it makes sense

worth to mention here, if you feel like changing the Knobs on the pots for example:

you need to take off the cap from those knobs, inside is a screw, losen it,
then you can take the knob off.
DO NOT try with plain power to lift the knobs off ! Be aware

Also, i updated my Flux in the meantime. its easy ( i had a Beta loaded for testing procedures on my flux)
you need to have a USB-microB cable
you need to install a software ( crossplatform) (i´m on mac for example)
and its all super easy !

and: the sound i just have going on my modular,
the flux triggering my Rings, is the first time that i would want to shoot my modular :slapfight:
do NOT feed your family with such Sequenzes

FLUX, you had my curiosity but now you have my attention.

This looks like it’ll patch well into a million things, but if there’s one coming directly to mind while watching your video it is that I SO terribly want to get FLUX and patch it into Underwurlde, especially its glitch inputs.

my first test patch created allready by coinsidence a new classic. ..........granted ;)

Rings into Clouds, both triggered by Flux. (plain coinsidence that i started with that patch)
Clouds in granular mode. Density set to zero.
all grain extraction of Clouds triggered by the same trigger as Rings was.

just this 3 modules alone, WoW. lotsa fun, for weeks.
its awesome to patch and to look what timbres you can have !

In watching your video: It feels so untamed, like it will end up wandering off somewhere, but the groove is so well-anchored that you never actually lose track of it. Not to mention that it looks like it might always be just a single knob-turn from something awesome that I’d never ever think to sequence myself.

This is so great, thanks for posting.

Jeez this is great! For some reason I really want to hear some jungle style samples triggered through this sequencer

As someone who has been looking for a polyrhythmic sequencer that actually makes interesting use of the possibilities this looks like one of the most best implementations I've seen. Most poly sequencers have a stiff feeling absent from various traditional polyrhythmic drum music, but this really has the capacity to groove. Welll done!

Now ill just need to find £500 and something to trigger with it :sb:

thanks! again, just sat down long enough to figure out a pattern, how to set the Aux 1 out, and play with the different CV out options. threw different ratchet multiples and humanization values on 3 macro knobs.

that... is a VERY good description. it's a doddle to program straight forward stuff, super easy to add different pattern lengths and shifts for polyrhythmic.... contained sloppiness?

I’m afraid I’ll have to be watching from the sidelines for a while due to some priorities I’ve set, but I’ll definitely be devouring all these videos and will likely do some looking into how much/well this can be conducted from elsewhere in one’s system.

Keep the videos coming, folks! :)

Save dialog:

as far i understand is there no quick: Save= overwrite dialog ?
i allways HAVE to rename my preset if i want to overwrite it, OR i have to save to a new slot ?
one of both, no other option ?

Is this correct, or do i overlook something ?

i just went again thru the quick start manual, .......but i have my problems with manuals.
its since the octatrack and the spectralis, its like i have a horror from manuals since.
But oh well, this quickstart guide is short, and finally written in a good way, so i think i got it ;)

i need to:
go with Left encoder (cursor) to a specific preset,
( keep Right encoder in state: "save")
just press right encoder to store my preset with its original name to the slot the "cursor" is set towards.
also: show name of the loaded preset in the name field automaticly, so if i want to overwrite that name,
i don´t have to write the name all by new.

is anything of this allready duable .........but i miss out on it ?
what do i overlook ?

edit: ahh wait, it saves *allways* to a new slot ?
thats what just happened again ( while i wanted to save to slot 2)
but yes, as far as i understand the qhickstart guide it saves to the next slot ( not explicitly exlouding another option)

i am also confused about the save structure. for me works they same as Funkstah says. feels like one has to make a new filename to save. which is... odd. is going to fill it UP to save incremental changes to an idea.

also, firmware suggestion - maybe hold the +10 and clicking the arrow to next/previous track changes from one screen to the next? it's not AWFUL to have to skip through all the options to go to the next screen, but that would be quicker.

also also, second patch with Fluxarino -

still Prok drums, a Pixel Drum and a Surface doing a Rings impression. wanted to do a ramble with all CV and gates coming from Flux, so the Surface is using a 2 octave 4 note quantized scale, first 3 steps are random, 4th is a descending envelope.

ok, so i was not wrong how i am perceiving it.

also, +1 on the jump to next screen thing.
not shure how important i would find this in the long run.
i can live with it finally

the saving a preset, overwrite a preset, and delete a preset, procedures are as is now NoGo´s to me.
Thats not how eurorack should be or feel. YMMV
i really hope to see here some "progress", ...since its a fresh baby ;)

edit: the "musicality" of the module was so far in any jam awesome,
but i´m still stuck to do just strange experiments, hehe

yeppers. agree on all accounts. odd way to do it, not at ALL a deal breaker, just changes how i use it.

another couple things i wouldn't mind added to the OS -

01) either being in a stop state NOT a play state when booted up, or having the choice.

02) loading into last patch. just kinda want that in EVERY complex device in modular.

Thanks for the feedback, I am taking notes! I will be much faster with firmware updates as soon as all modules have shipped. Features to add:

Short Term Firmware Updates
  • Holding * while navigating the main UI jumps to the next page
  • Overwriting presets possible when saving to micro SD
  • Load the last saved preset on start up
  • Module defaults to stopped state
The 2nd batch of modules begin shipping today
