I love being able to get NLC goodness in 1U packages. Andrew, any interest in breaking out a PLL in 1U format, the same way you made Signum and DiffRect available? I've been enjoying patching my own chaotic/nonlinear maps and am on the lookout for small, computationally interesting modules.

PiLLs has two of them cross-coupled to go chaotic.

The PiLLs looks awesome as a crazy sound generator, but I was thinking more of something that would play in the same territory as the Doepfer module - a PLL that can be built into other patches. But maybe I misunderstand the PiLLs and it is possible to patch it in such a way that one can use one of the PLLs for something else?

You want a PLL? Here's a PLL that outputs chaotic noise. You want a delay? Here are three delays that output chaotic noise. You want a filter? This is a filter that also mostly makes chaotic noise.

NLC modules are Ace!

I just wondered if there ever will be a NLCdusg kinda thing....

To be fair, most NLC modules can be tamed if that's what you're into. Plenty of sweet spots. I've just got this sneaking suspicion that's not what Andrew's into, so demo vids and descriptions tend to be chaotic noise. Which, of course, is great and a lovely "fuck you" to established notions of music. :sb:

You can find my rack at ModularGrid.
WTB: Original Mutable Instruments Tides faceplate. Will pay handsomely. Send me a PM!

I did do a PCB of the based on the Korg PS3200 EG....maybe 8 or 9 years ago, which has almost the same core as half a DUSG. Can't remember what happened to it, must be in a box somewhere, needed some tweaks anyway.
Always thought it interesting the Korg PS3200 EG and DUSG were released around the same year and share a lot of similarities, but I doubt there was any direct connection, other than Serge and the people at Korg prob read the same IEEE or AES papers.

Whenever euro-fatigue sets in, I look at NLC. There's always something intriguing to discover. Thank you for making 2020 less sucky, Andrew. Love the new website!

nice work on the webstore Andrew - looks spiffy :)
Yeah - it looks great - although the old blog thing had its own charm. Very nice build instructions too (as least on clump)

Just need a black panel option!

It's been said many times before by a lot of other people and I'll jump on that bandwagon - every so often I get the urge to put together a separate rack of nothing but NLC modules, every single one of them in one place, for those times that I just need to "unwind".

Didn't know about NLC at all. Good to see there are more Intellijel 1U compatible modules out there. Just ordered the Sloth. It will fill up the last remaining 6HP in my Intellijel case :sb:

Just to clarify my earlier post: I love having 1U modules that break out Andrew's low level design elements, like Sloth, Signum and Diff-Rect. Any more that he wants to make, I will gladly buy. I'm not quite as interested in more fully-featured 1U modules, as I tend to buy those in 3U format.

how slow Hyperchaos Deluxe can go ? (by unplug the rate)

Thanks! As far as how slow can it go? It's extremely slow (even without slowing it down via modding the led's, adding the extra capacitors) without being gated, I'll see if I can grab some oscilloscope shots of what it looks like without gates and with..

interesting. I was considering another sloth and / or let's splosh. By extremely slow: somewhere between 5-20min ?

Sorry I miswrote in my last post, it slows down with a jack in the rate input. Here are some oscilloscope shots of the W(yellow) X(blue) and Y(purple) outputs from my scope:

First with a dummy cable in rate (5s capture):
5sslow.jpeg

Then taking the cable out of rate (500ms capture):
500msout.jpeg

Then putting a 120bpm clock every 4 beats in:
120by4bpm.jpeg

Then putting a 120bpm clock every 1 beat in:
120by1bpm.jpeg

It stays "familiar" for a period of time, then does some wild swings, then returns to something familiar.. Get's really cool in X/Y mode but I didn't take shots of that, basically you get different attractors.. I do not know enough about chaos but understand it in use to some extent..

That's funny, mine's the opposite. Slow with no cable, fast with dummy cable, slow with gate on. I prefer that personally as I quite enjoy the slow mode. I believe I built mine as per the PCB, 10uf for slow, but I'm not certain :)

Thanks for sharing the scope shots! More people need Hyperchaos in their lives

Oh wow really? I wonder if I built this one the wrong way? I have another pcb/panel i'm going to put together using the extra 10u's so I'll see if I can get that one to work in reverse, slow by default would be preferable.. And yeah hyperchaos, hypster, clump, beat freq, dual lfo/vco, divine CMOS, sloths, some of my favorite modules..

Please tell me more about the NLC Router. What are you doing with it? It's interesting that the CV inputs are paired while everything else is quadruple. Looks as though, with no inputs patched, you get stepped waveforms, influenced by the knobs. I'm not sure the jack normals in the build notes match panel graphics and descriptions. Curious.
