Ritual Electronics 1U modules

Post by Terdjman » Tue Apr 28, 2020 8:15 am

We introduced six new 1U modules for Superbooth 20 Home Edition.

Quick overview:

Image
Flexibilité
Expression pedal adaptor
Foot controlled attenuator / attenuverter
Input to attenuate external signals (audio or CV)
Without an input signal, outputs 0/+5v in unipolar mode or -5v/+5v in bipolar mode
Reverse polarity switch inside for compatibility with most expression pedals
10HP

Image
Pointeuse
Momentary footswitch pedal adaptor
Foot controlled momentary & latching mute
Input to mute external signals (audio or CV)
Without an input signal, outputs 5v.
Clickless mute
Reverse polarity switch inside for compatibility with most sustain pedals
12HP

Image
Assemblée
Signal mixer & mangler
Combine two signals with analog logic operations (Max & Min) and mixing (Mix)
Mute switch for each signal
Output selected with a 6-position rotary switch
Bipolar output LED to check the signal polarity
14HP

Image
Krach
White noise and pink noise
10Vpp
Cheap and compact
6HP

Image
Répression
Comparator with CV controlled threshold
Out outputs a gate when the input is above the threshold
Inverted Out outputs a gate when the input is below the threshold
The threshold range is 0-8V.
If an external signal is patched in the Threshold CV input the knob becomes an attenuator.
10HP

Image
Guillotine
Stereo soft + hard clipping distortion
Its insane amount of gain can be used as an instrument adaptor (guitars, basses, microphones…)
It can bring line levels to modular levels
Three way switch to select from three different frequency emphasis
14HP

These are Intellijel 1U format but we could do a run of Pulplogic 1U format faceplates.
We did a poll on Instagram to know if we should offer these in both Intellijel & Pulplogic format, and it seemed the Pulplogic users were scarce in our followers. What about here? Can you please raise your hands Pulplogic format users?

As I write the prices are not fixed, nor is the release date. I'll edit the post once we know more!

Good thing you started off making the Intellijel versions, it is easier to make the Pulp Logic versions from them than visa versa (the space used for the PCB is smaller on the Intellijel tiles). I am not a tile person myself, but the only other difference is the power connector, correct? If the board have both connectors then all that is needed is a different front panel.

Does Flexibilité output the max unattenuated offset WITHOUT an exp pedal patched? Or does it output 0v in that scenario?

Great ideas, especially the last two. However, I wish the Krach were 4HP.

Very cool! I've been wanting a 1U foot pedal input...

As much as I hate to be "that guy", will you be offering these in silver faceplates to match Intellijel modules? It seems odd to me to make Intellijel sized 1U modules in black when all the Intellijel 1U modules are silver. Although I know there's lots of people that want black Intellijel faceplates!

I don't have a 1U case, but if I did I would be giving a long, yearning look at that Guillotine as a stereo stompbox adapter + gain stage for pedals -> euro. Awesome!

Time to find 1U rail brackets. Or wait until shipping from Clicks and Clocks returns to pre-virus prices.

Thanks guys for your comments! Here's a few replies to your questions.

Yes the only other difference is the power connector, however we do not plan on adding the Pulp logic tile connector as you're still able to use the normal 10pin power connector with a long cable. The space on the Intellijel 1U PCB is really, really tight.

In this scenario it outputs 0v.

We would have loved to have it in 4hp too but the space is really small on the PCB for the 1U format and we would not be able to fit all the components.

Well I guess it's a question of tastes. For now Ritual Electronics will stay all black panels but maybe at some point we'll do special limited edition silver panels.

And Yes, there are plans to make another run of blank panels ;).

I said it in the Superbooth thread a few days ago but those pedal interface modules are a great idea. Can't wait to try them out.

The answer seems fairly obvious to me: small Eurorack company with a very obvious dark, occult style aesthetic probably aren't going to step away from that to conform with Intellijel's panel colour.

If anything they should make the panels darker and occultier. Might be a minority here, though
