WMD 4tten - 4 channel attenuator and offset

Post by NastyNachos » Wed May 20, 2020 12:33 pm

Our newest module is out and shipping now!

Image

Such a useful little module.

Here's the deets:.

4TTEN (pronounced either ATTEN or FOUR-TEN) is a four channel attenuator and offset generator.

Use 4TTEN to attenuate any CV or audio signal by running through the ins and outs.

A +5V voltage source is normalled to each input, making it a standalone offset when there is no cable patched into an input.

Each channel is completely independent.

Ever-so-useful in live performance, we designed this module with 4 sliders for easy maneuverability, visual feedback, and enjoyable to play interface. Make your eurorack modular synthesizer system more playable with 4TTEN!

*** 4TTEN's PCB is 113mm (4.45") tall and may be a tight fit in some cases ***

Highlights
  • 4 independent attenuators for Control Voltage and Audio signals

    Performance friendly sliders

Can be used as 0 to +5V Offset

Comfortable fader caps from the Performance Mixer

    Only 4 hp!
Specs:
Size: 4hp
Depth: 30mm(with cables)
Power: +5mA , -5mA
Virtually no drop on 1V/Oct signals.
VERTICAL PCB LENGTH: 4.45 in
IMPEDANCE
(SOURCE + 100ohm ) / 100kohm
UNBUFFERED

Too bad it only outputs 5 volts. I’m looking for faders for my Muton and this would have been perfect. Back to the MSW F8R plan I guess.
Any chance in 8-10V outputs, Alex?
I know, I know, completely different use cases; attenuater vs cv souce, but a girl can dream.

From the Muton Manual: "A control voltage, such as an envelope with an 8-10V peak will open the VCA completely for unity gain output. Lower voltage CV will also work with a reduction in output volume - in some situations such as mixing, lower volumes may be desired as to alleviate clipping."

So it's probably good with 0-5. If you've verified that you need 8-10V, then we could swap one part for you and do a lil custom jobby. But, you should try first to see if it's totally necessary!

cool. does it have LEDs (can't really tell for sure in the photo) to indicate input or output voltage levels and polarity? will there be a silver panel too?

Yes LEDs, indicates positive voltage. Negative voltage is not indicated by the LED. No silver panel because we are manufacturing panels in house, and we can not make silver panels. The panels are milled and engraved.

Thanks

Voltage and polarity jumpers would be a cool mod

Wow, thanks for the offer, I’ll be in touch. I tried using a 16n with my Muton in this fashion, but the 5v output wasn’t enough to open the vca’s satisfactorily. I could never get my drum mixes just right, mostly the Crater seemed like it was wasn’t getting to deliver it’s all. Faders all up on 16n, and the Crater was underrepresented compared to my 3 other WMD drum modules.
Thanks again Alex! You guys rock.

This is just the module I’ve been waiting for, I love to keep my bottom row accessible. Looking forward!

Received mine today, works as expected, and the faders have a nice feel to them. Just a heads up, as it wasn't immediately clear to me and I haven't seen a manual or a video for this yet - the inputs are the jacks with the letters directly underneath them, and the corresponding output is immediately above each input. The LEDs indicate the input voltage (when it's positive, negative input voltages are attenuated by the faders but do not cause the LEDs to light).
