Its not odd, covid19 put everything on the backburner for pretty much all companies. Parts are harder to come by, social distancing means less people in person at the shop building and testing.

perfect circuit did a noise engineering youtube livestream recently and the plan is still a go with the module, and all the others NE announced.

As I understand it, all the new NE modules are going to be platforms for a bunch of different firmwares.

All the new ones or the two they've announced as being platforms?

Yes that's a more accurate way to describe it. Desmodus is their effects platform, and they also have an oscillator platform coming.

Looking at the manual, it seems to use the new Daisy platform from Electro Smith. Copying from the website, this is an "ARM Cortex-M7 MCU, High fidelity AKM stereo audio codec with up to 24-bit 192kHz, 64MB of SDRAM, and 8MB of flash memory". Not sure how this compares to FV-1 Spin.

This video was just posted on the NE Youtube channel. I wasn't that interested before, but the BIA through the Desmodus may have just changed my mind.

Whoa. I swore off most effects in the rack a long time ago, but this might change that. Sounds far better and cooler than I expected. I guess I shouldn't have doubted NE!

Just ordered one!
You can never have too many reverbs IMHO, especially if they’re non traditional. :sb:
Looking forward to NE releasing mor algorithms in the future as well :guinness:

Im excited for this one.

Love love love the dual function knobs where one half does one thing and one half does another. Just like a dj filter, very intuitive. I wonder why more eurorack companies dont do that.

Sounds amazing, although ive never been a fan of shimmer, pitch shift delays, reverbs. Something corny about shimmer. Maybe its not as wierd on percussion. Something about the pitch shifting algorithms on melodic material starts to sound cheap on anything more than an octave up. Maybe its cuz its not multitimbral? The tone stays equal as it pitches up, but most acoustic instruments the timbre changes as you go higher up the notes

Really excited about this unit! It's a lot more versatile than I had anticipated. Since I already have several reverbs, I was going to pass on it but this demo might just put me over the edge.

Ughh, I’m the opposite. Almost every knob goes from minimum to maximum, but then you have one where 12 o’clock is zero, and it behaves differently clockwise than it does counterclockwise. (Not criticizing this module specifically, just that functionality in general)

I tend to dislike dual function knobs, like DJ filters. I prefer having the whole pot for wiggling one parameter and a switch to change its function. I guess thats a lot more circuitry though.

Also, I appreciate the small size of NE modules, but on the B side, I really want attenuators for their parameters. I have a lot of NE modules and I always put a 4hp attenuator module next to it, which creates more cabling, etc. I would prefer a larger module with tiny pot CV attenuators, at least for some of the main params.

I'm still going to pick up this module though, super excited for it!

What I love about the NE UI is that there are no modes, no displays, and no overloaded controls (at least in the modules I am familiar with). The state is entirely defined by the position of the physical controls. When it's turned off and on, it just keeps going. If that means that some knobs have two halves with different functionalities, that's fine with me.
