Endorphin.es Running order ; two track trigger sequencer

Post by Orange » Wed Oct 07, 2020 1:50 pm

Running Order is a two track trigger sequencer:
It can be a precise master clock or manipulate incoming clock signal and works great in use as a sub-sequencer/divider in your Eurorack environment.

6 HP width, 30 mm depth (with plugged ribbon cable), power requirements: +12V: 30mA, -12V: 10 mA
Zero-jitter clock generation: less than 50 microseconds internal clock jitter
101 style 1/16th note input mode (step/rest) with manual or CV controllable amount of triggers repeats when the active trigger step happens
Euclidean mode enabled for each tracks where we set Euclidean total steps amount in the circle and then amount of triggers happening in that circle,
Separate synchronization (reset) inputs, sync for track 1 is normalled to sync track 2
Clock divider for incoming external clock allows to quickly obtain various musical divisions on the fly incl. triplets of course but more importantly tuplets mode allows to stretch desired amount of triggers happening into a single bar
Separate mute buttons for each track
8 patterns of triggers sequences stored in the module and recalled on the next power on

Very much looking forward to this one arriving! It will be a great tool for polyrhythms in tuple mode; maybe an instant classic with the simple input mode (very Tempi-like). Seems like the only thing missing is rotation of the euclidean patterns, so a gate delay is probably a good companion.

FYI it can record 128 steps in standard mode. That info is not in the manual.

their 6HP modules line is so ***** great on paper and like the others
this one looks very interesting !
but I had a very bad experiences with Milky Way and Squawk Dirty.
The first was so noisy and sounded like a broken module,
and the second was also super noisy ... a big digital hiss ...
I sent them back to the dealer ...
but this one is a trigger generator, no audio signal path ... so maybe it will work as expected ?
due to my experience , I will wait the first users reviews

I can now confirm: Running Order is great! And it pairs so well with Clep Diaz for clocked modulation (clock the modulation with one channel, modulate the other).

Few notes:
It seems to save state on power down. Nice.

It caught me off-guard that the Repeats knobs become CV attenuators (thought it is mentioned in the manual) but I'm fine with it considering that CCW is a good "home base" for modulation.

I haven't put it through its paces "scientifically" yet. E.g. I'll be digging more into how the external clock input work and whether it requires a sync to avoid drifting/phasing.

A scientific approach reveals strange interactions between channel 1 & 2 when clocked externally. Adjusting repeats on one seems to lag or mute the other. Endorphin.es crew, can you comment on this? It occurs regardless of sync.
Edit: having a hard time replicating. Possibly I'm just a noob.

Edit 2: there is definitely a clock input rate below which the repeats stop working.

A couple cool discoveries:
The divider knob, when clocked, only affects the division of repeats. If you have no repeats, the rhythm will proceed at 1:1 with clock.

The module works at audio rate and makes really cool harmonics!

Anyone got it yet and can give an opinion? :)

Demo Videos would be even more appreciated  Hardly any third party information on it out there :despair:

Just ordered one - couldn´t resist

If someone has a question, I will be happy to try and give an answer in a few days

Exactly the same feeling here. Like, ok, since there is no audio involved, this might be an exception to my rule about not going near an endorphin.es module again.

Yeah this seems like it could be a nice compliment to Steppy for triggering the QD and Rample. But like others in thus thread I feel a bit burned by my experience with the Milky Way and Squawk Dirty to Me. Hopefully some users videos start to pop up soon.
