Curious... what discontinued or unavailable modules do you guys covet, and why?
With all the awesome new stuff coming out, are there modules that are no longer commercially available that you still feel hunger pangs for?
Which modules did folks new to modular miss out on?
Cmon, grandpa. Tell me about the good old days.

I am not nearly an expert in modularland, as I just jumped in feet-first this year, but I found an Antimatter Brain Seed on Reverb a while back, so I did some quick research, and scooped it up before it was gone.
Ever since then, I keep seeing that module's name pop up in threads here and how it does a lot in very few HP, but that it is not available, and pop up only rarely in the used market. So I guess that is my answer.

Not positive, but I think SSF discontinued the Ultra-Random Analog..?

Bought one of the last new ones out there just a couple months ago. Great module!
I'd really love to have an Oscillographic Block, but those are pretty much impossible to find at this point. Oh, and add me to the Mysteron list as well.

Please don't start a run on discontinued modules. It's bad enough already with people panic-buying guitar pedals because "JHS-guy made a video about it on youtube". It just gets worse and worse all the time.

useless

modcan's site is down. i don't know how long it's been down but it's sad. so many great modules. A+ people too.
anyway.. as for mutable stuff.. is any of that really discontinued? i mean.. you can still get clones and also uClones of braids, clouds etc..

NE just discontinued the Ataraxic Translatron. Long live the AT. It's a love-it or hate-it module, and I happen to love it.
I also have a soft spot for a lot of discontinued Intellijel modules, because they accomplished a lot in a small footprint, and sometimes I prefer a smaller version without all the capabilities of their fuller-featured successors. The Dixie II nailed the sweet spot between functionality and size, and the original uMod was also pretty great.

I thought of adding QMMG to my list, but wasn't sure it qualified given the limited run not that long ago. Given the scarcity and environmental unfriendliness of vactrols, one can only assume that LxD and Optomix will be discontinued at some point.

A very good answer. Of that era, the QMMG gets the most attention, but the Harvestman modules of the same timeframe have a special sauce.

what makes them unfriendly to the environment more than other chips? It's an an LED and an LDR, or two.
Not saying you are wrong, just not sure what they were "dinged" I thought it was Mercury, but why do they need that?
trying to understand. Guessing vactrols didn't make enough $$ , so capitalism.
