Best module to have twice
Hi,
What is the best module to have twice for you ? (expected VCO or VCA maybe)
I think about a dual ZDSP, maybe dual Magneto (any delay with feedbacks could be fun).

MI Warps. I have three right now.
For VCOs Plague of Demons or fmOGRE are great in pairs to modulate one another.

I considered a second Morphagene at some point. The workflow just clicks with me. Maybe someday when the next big thing comes along and the hangers on all dump theirs to buy it...

Re: Best module to have twice
Braids, or Plaits. You can match sonorities in several voices without being bland or predictable.
Re: Best module to have twice
Disting is a good bet. Personally I've gotten several Klavis MixWitch. Mixer, inverter, switch, sub oscillator generator, sequencer, waveshaper, etc etc. Great build and not expensive.

You go too high too early, man. The beat sounds like the a slow mudslide and the melodies that go on and on.

Re: Best module to have twice
I'd never get dual ZDSP, both a very big and quite expensive module and imo not that great because very few programs, cards to fiddle with, doesn't even save which preset you were on.. Got myself 2x FX Aid, way better in every way, more programs, constant updates with even more algos, can edit which algos i want to have and in which order, saves on power down..
I have 2x FX Aid and 2x Prok Drums, both really great. I'd love to have 2 or even 3x Ornament and Crime, imo it's better than disting apart from the sample player and VCO parts (love the wavetable algo).

Among the double-ups I have, my favorite is the Starling Via Meta.

Re: Best module to have twice
I have two μO_C modules that I built from PCB/panel. I could imagine adding a third. μO_C offers a lot of functionality in just 8 hp.
Re: Best module to have twice
not pressure points imo, i hated having to tune 8 columns

Damn! I need that Klavis thingie! Thank you for mentioning Lisa.
Wish I had two of those Verbos vca/vcf combination units, so damn nice.

Re: Best module to have twice
I have 2 Z-DSPs and I'm very happy with them, but then I've got them mounted on the wall where space isn't as much of an issue. Also have a couple of FX Aids and several Distings, both of these make a lot of sense because not only can they can do many things, but the list of things they can do continues to grow.
Re: Best module to have twice
Currently, it's the Shapeshifter, Tetrapad (one connected to Tete) and FX-AID for me.
The Shapeshifter remains my favorite oscillator, for its broad range of sounds, external processing, and CV generation. The Tetrapads changed how I patch, and make everything feel like an instrument. And FX Aid has so many effects, is super clean (I mean seriously clean, and I'm anal about such things) and small. Great for send/return reverbs, weird modulation, even clocked delays.

Re: Best module to have twice
I have two øchds. One is really not enough
Re: Best module to have twice
I've got two intellijel dixies. They're simple with all the features I want and sound amazing at a solid price point.
If it was possible to link up two Metropolis modules to get 16 steps I would do that in a heart beat, space and price be DAMNED.

Re: Best module to have twice
I have two of:
Doepfer A-171-2 VCS function generator;
Ladik buffered multiple;
Doepfer A-132-3 DVCA dual VCA
Ladik S-180 SEQ-8 sequencer
Doepfer A-110-4 QZVCO
Doepfer A-138u micro mixer
Of those, the two that are most useful doubled are the buffered mults and the dual VCA. Buffered mults because I always run out, and Dual VCA because that particular VCA gives a saturation I like if it's done subtly per VCA and then they are chained together... If I had a much larger case and loads of cash, I'd buy two more of both of those! I'd also get a few more A183-2 Offset/Attenuators... and lots of other stuff

Ladik s-180/s183 combo... and 1 x 180/ 184/ 181
Doepfer a-120 filter
I have two cells - super and micro
Ladik log vcas
Div kid mutes
Pico drums x 3
