The bulk of my mini eurorack is in place ... will probably go with a Quadratt because it functionally & cost-efficiently fills the 1u space. Not sure about the main section .... 12 hp left ... was thinking a Happy Nerding 3xMIA & a uPlaits clone but the HN stuff isn't in stock anywhere. Any suggestions?
the Quadratt and the MIA would serve mostly the same purpose, no? mixing, offsetting, attenuation, etc?
Don't get me wrong, mixers and attenu...s are very important, to me, I have a good number in my system.
Someone else also shouted out the 1u o_C, which I've owned before. I don't think I can deal w/ the o_C, Distings one-stop modules, even with screens.
Yes, good point.
It's just that I'll have so many audio outs (6 when Beads comes) so I didn't want to have to choose between mixing or atten. But now I'm thinking w/ going Quadratt + factory Plaits or Quadratt + Cold Mac + Happy Nerding 2xSAM. I'm always drawn to Mannequins stuff even though I don't know what Cold Mac will do for me. But I can imagine between Lubadh & Beads getting fed into Cold Mac, whatever comes out will be pretty trippy.
Right now I have a patch going where I captured audio in Beads, ran it through Phonogene and overdubbed multiple layers at different speeds, reversed the patch so Phonogene was live processed by Beads, captured that, reversed it back through Phonogene, etc.
The last round of processing is Beads in delay mode (sunny tape) with some random pitch shifting and feedback. I'm using this in a track I'm working on now
Not anymore aware than you if you've already checked the shops. Legend has it weekly batches are a thing but I believe that stock is already spoken for until May
I think this is something people don't talk about as much here as people do on, say, guitar pedal forums. I came from that world and to me the first and most important thing about a delay is the character. My Beads will be racked today, but I love the character of the delay from Mimeophon and would be surprised if the color and tone were a large overlap. We'll see!
When you say Mimeophon's character, do you mean like Moogerfooger or Space Echo level in terms of mojo or just better than your average euro delay?
Great question. Exactly what I’m talking about. I have only briefly used a Moogerfooger and Space Echo but yes that’s exactly what I’m talking about. I am a delay addict pedal wise. My all time favorite is El llCapistan because of the way it retains its character and sits in a mix, especially for guitar.
I’m contrast, I don’t love the dual looping delay. It does what it is supposed to do and is a clean delay, but I can’t seem to extract the same mojo from it.
In my rig, the color tone on the mimeophon really gives a lot of character to to tails and the notes just seem to bloom and exist in a broader space. I love that delay. Probably my favorite in eurorack thus far.
thanks @ Èmilie for another superbly inspiring module !
And thanks for all the Demos ! Great stuff
fully edited: i thought i request a own thread for further operational questions, with strict moderation,
opened by a mod.

has anybody a tip for a smaller, more private place to surf euro modular ??
Is there a place where "old" wigglers meet ? serious request !! please PM me
its too big, can´t handle the timeload any longer
thanks to signal sounds to getting it to the US in 2 days... no thanks to fedex for being unable to deliver it the last 40 miles to me in the 3 days they've had it
loving the guitar patch.. as soon beads arrives i intend to run my guitar through papa clouds, the bastard clone offspring typhoon and the hero of this thread simultaneously. until then i appreciate all the examples for temporary satiation. keep em comin!
What a great Module! Especially the great, clear layout and some of the really clever design choices made me super happy!
Beads into RS VariableQ BP then into Dynacord VRS23. Beads is sequenced by a Doepfer Darktime and it’s in freeze mode. A little Plaits in the background... enjoy:

I have been enjoying this thread and read every post. Thanks for everyone's videos and soundcloud posts. I got my Beads today and put together a simple patch to mess around with it. The reverb is AWESOME! I'm still learning its limits. So far I like it! Seems like a classic. Here's my spacey composition. Vector running some generative sequences I programmed into the sinfonion (basically doing nothing) x 2 into two channels of E370 into Quad VCA run by intellijel ADSR into Beads. No external processing. I like this thing!

Love it. Sounds like outerspace. Cold and digital sounds just as good through beads as organic stuff.
I put Odessa through beads last night and just threw a bunch of random modulators into it. OOF.
How does this compare to Mimeophon and Echophon?
I'm thinking about switching up my Shared System.
Those are delays. This is not. It’s a granular processor.
Sorry I was under the impression that you could adjust grain size on Mimeophon and loop with long delay times similar to Beads.
Mimeophon can do ridiculously long delay times, or very short ones.
Beads definitely can act as a delay, but that's a small part of what it does. When it's a delay it doesn't have the same character or set of features as Mimeophon or Echophon. I've got Mimeophon and Beads and don't feel like one could replace the other.
Mimeophon is my favorite delay module ever, but if I couldn't have both, I would choose Beads. I'm glad I can have both
Right when I was about to change tack & go with Arbhar, Beads drops. Managed to snag one from New Groove in Italy.

I have a Pittsburgh Microvolt that can interact w/ this rack & will pick up an Empress Euroburo standalone eventually. Also have the Moog Matriarch to draft in when I need more utilities but that's kind of a pain.
this is what i can suggest you based on my tastes: Bastl Cinnamon, it's a multimode filter that can track 1v/oct as well (5hp); ALM pip slope, it's a nice function generator and it can be good to patch it somewhere to modulate (4hp); disting (even mk3 is a good option) so you can have tons of possibilities and in case you need something you will have it (4hp).
I am in love with this module but I'm experiencing a major signal-to-noise degradation with it. When I connect my laptop to the 4ms Listen IO, I have to turn the volume way up to hear the hiss in the audio. But when I send that audio into Beads (or connect the Y cable directly to Beads), the volume falls a lot - but the hiss in the signal doesn't fall, so when I add gain further in the chain to compensate, the hiss becomes terribly strong.
Is anyone else noticing this?? Can it be solved? I can work around the problem by amplifying the audio before going into Beads, and manually lowering Beads' gain. But I think this may be inducing crackling and clipping.
