Re: Toppobrillo Sport Modulator 2- discussion and signup
Increasingly, with this unipolar news, I'm looking at v2 as different enough of a beast to not sell my v1s and just use them for different ends.
Re: Toppobrillo Sport Modulator 2- discussion and signup
I didn’t realize a diy version would be available so I didn’t make the note in my order form; but that’s what I’d be interested in!

Oh dude, the dedicated ping input on the multifilter redesign sounds ideal. It’s my favorite filter to create drums with to sample or sequence, hands down (better for pinging than the Serge, even). If there was a way to maintain the resonant sustain while pinging and have it respond accurately to 1v/octave it would be the ultimate drum module, though I don’t know that that is technically possible with this sort of topology.

I have to clarify seems there is a little confusion- the 'diy' option is just an SMD populated PCB, lacking soldered on pots jacks and switches. This would be for the (very tiny) 4U / other format crowd , and would be priced basically the same, maybe a tiny bit less.. but it's not an option for eurorack, I'd rather ship a tested and QC'd product with a warranty than have DIY support to field as well, I hope that makes sense. <3

logic-yeah, there is logic involved either way, just a few transistors. the 'switch' to toggles is inline with the other projects I have in the pipeline (as were minipots but you foiled my plans! lol it's ok) they are nice clicky and most importantly- non volatile. the pre-post/ cue switches I used in the stereomix crossed my mind briefly ..oldenjon wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 2:03 pm2. I'm maybe in the minority camp of wanting the original push buttons but will purchase either way. When you have random source mode activated, will the S/H switches be deactivated? That might imply some kind of logic / switching scheme for which push buttons might be more efficient anyways?toppobrillo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 3:02 am2. that's a toggle switch ( this answers #3 as well) that switch would normalize the 'random source' patch, that is, normalize the comparator out to the input of channel 2 as well as ch.1's S/H input.
4. yes, it would be a reset to 0 in either mode. note here: rev2 will cycle uni-polar ,from approx 0-8V as per doepfer eurorack spec.![]()
4. What's the reasoning for changing to unipolar cycling? Are CV inputs commonly expecting unipolar voltages these days (asking cause I don't know)? I have lots of unipolar CV generators in my system that can act as LFOs and VCOs, and get frustrated having to offset them externally when required. Not a deal breaker by any means, but just curious why since SM isn't really designed to generate envelopes.
I'll get to the other stuff soon .!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh ok. I do remember reading about that. That’s totally fine with me!toppobrillo wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 6:56 pmI have to clarify seems there is a little confusion- the 'diy' option is just an SMD populated PCB, lacking soldered on pots jacks and switches. Haha yeah IDK, I guess I'd rather have wiggle space for knobs than toggles. Looks roomy enough though. Kudos on the new panel designtoppobrillo wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 7:05 pmlogic-yeah, there is logic involved either way, just a few transistors. the 'switch' to toggles is inline with the other projects I have in the pipeline (as were minipots but you foiled my plans! lol it's ok) they are nice clicky and most importantly- non volatile.

the toggles are pretty clear of the knobs! I worked hard to free the knobs. #freetheknoboldenjon wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 8:08 pmHaha yeah IDK, I guess I'd rather have wiggle space for knobs than toggles. Looks roomy enough though. I'm in for one, please and thanks.
Re: Toppobrillo Sport Modulator 2- discussion and signup
I’m in for both Sport Mods Rev 2 and the redesigned Multifilter, have been considering used options and would prefer the newer incarnation.
Re: Toppobrillo Sport Modulator 2- discussion and signup
I’m interested in the Sport Modulator

I must have missed that part of the discussion. Is the new version actually unipolar? I wonder if a jumper for polar vs unipolar would be a possibility.

Awesome! thank you — can't wait

off topic (sorry) but now that I picked up an ADDAC 207 I have been wondering about your Quantimator even more- was that toppobrillo module far different and unusual for a quantizer because it sent out predetermined scales and chords rather than adapting a C/V signal from a sequence? I have seen a few around for sale still but it's out of production, correct? …any chance you are considering a rev 2 on the Q?

I'd prefer unipolar, a jumper on the back would be useful though if implementable.

Re: Toppobrillo Sport Modulator 2- discussion and signup
did some work on this over the weekend, improved the END output such that it will cycle when patched back to IN,- you can cross-patch the sections, invert one of the outputs for quadrature mode, gate the cycling, constrain it, among other things.

Nice. That’s a pretty quick turnaround, assuming it all goes to plan!toppobrillo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 4:54 amnope. this is why I haven't taken paymentless pressure to get it out and a little more time to tweak and refine. It's pretty amazing how far my skill set has come since this was first released. I am redesigning the switching logic right now , alot less parts, mostly discrete. so yeah, this thread will be the first to know. I am *aiming* for june/july.
