Lol, exactly the same thoughts here... 6U of Sputnik, but without an LPG it's wandering the interior out of sight of either coast...

Re: Sputnik is baaack
Definitely not, but the Sputnik is more faithful to an original Buchla 292. That said, you get more features on the QMMG e.g. different filter modes, resonance, etc. The Optomix is actually a better comparison. 2x Optomix give you nearly identical sound/functionality to the Sputnik Quad VCF/VCA. At least in LPG mode.Portabella wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 3:19 pmhave those Sputnik quad LPGs ever reached sough-after-levels of a QMMG?

Re: Sputnik is baaack
here is a demo with an old prototype of the spectral processor i did couple of years ago, this unit got couple of switch mounted backwards, other than this i guess it should sound like the final release. for a while i probably owned the rearest module ever.
i've blown a fuse...

Never tried qmmg, but the sputnik was bleeding horribly when closed so I sold it.Portabella wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 3:19 pmhave those Sputnik quad LPGs ever reached sough-after-levels of a QMMG?

Yup, I had bleeding on the odd channels of the Quad VCA/VCF as well. The LPG mode sounded nice but the bleeding was the deal breaker eventually, especially since there would have been no customer service anymore because the company went out of business. So selling it was the wisest thing to do in my eyes.

Arrived yesterday, here’s the first test I did, just processing a raw low freq saw wave. So organic sounding. Sounds incredible

@ Brandon, your demo sounds good,
the sound seems to me much more analog and nasal than the sharp sound of the Fumana.

hey man, any chance of posting something quick w a CV in the width control? Based on your demo I feel like I would prefer this over the bark filter, but the main thing I use the bark for is the scanning feature, you can just get so much movement out of that thing. Really want to try this but feel like Id really really really miss the scanning on the bark and just wondering what the width adjustment feels like on this. Dont have the space for both unfortunately.
